actually they did the nazi's didn't care about anything they burned and desecrated churches, the obvious is that they "invaded" the jewish religion by trying to exterminate the jews, they went after all sorts of people and religions anything that they didn't see as pure german they killed. they even killed the world's most truest "hippie" the gypsies.

a big music festival like woodstock wouldn't ever work because the mindset of today's youth and the way we rebel. just look at woodstock 95 and all the damage that was done. it is hard to protest and stand up for what you believe in because of the brutality of the police, even if they have to reason to act upon they still do it because of the corrupt capitalistic 1%ers that pretty much own them. i still beleive we need to stand up for whats right because we are the future, but i dont believe we can accomplish this mission without being a united front, everyone wants to stand up for their selfish reasons but together with just a simple ideaology of change then united we can topple this capitalist country

Not to mention all of the big corporations that would sponsor it and make it all for money. Also the horrific ''bands'' that control the radio population these days. I really wouldn't enjoy going to a concert named woodstock and end up seeing lady gaga and lil wayne try and perform the shameful noise of which they call ''music''.

I agree with many other posts on this forum about organizing a giant gathering of consciousness and change. Nothing better inspires the burning fire in others than knowing they aren't alone. This establishment is getting closer and closer to the brink of collapse by itself, but as part of it, we need to have a plan as to how we will handle this and progress as a race. There are ways to live peaceably among this planet, we've been doing it for thousands of years before all this /:

I'm thinking the same thing. Whatever happened to new big bands that actually made you think? The arts was a great tool for that, especially the music but what's in the charts today is just unintelligent drivel. Perhaps it's because a lot of the people of our generation don't think much outside their own realm and are happy with their ignorance. But I think the time is just right for a new movement. It may seem unlikely that something will catch on in a big way but sometimes the most unlikely things are what make the difference.

You people saying woodstock wouldn't work today don't seem to understand the massive festivals that happen many times a year.

Not to mention, woodstock DIDN'T work, there was like no food, parking, water, etc..... like MANY hippie gatherings such as that rainbow crap to this day. Pretty sure the national guard had to helo in food, and that they may have faced a sort of mob when they did..... But it could have been even worse, there where things like altamont speedway and bull island, with murder, riots, no food or water, no way out, supply trucks looted and burned, thievery and violence, etc......

So yeah, hendrix played a mean set, wish I saw it..... Now can we stop riding woodstocks cock with so much zeal?

As far as "what happened to the big bands that made you think?"
-->Thinking went out of style, so they became small bands.

There are so many of us now, far more aware/conscious youth than there were in the sixties, but the society has done a better job of keeping us separate and isolated. The laws are stricter, police techniques more brutal, the media-control so total and complete, that what is essentially a populist movement with widespread support all over the country, is kept to the margins.

I know SO many people of all generations, who agree the current bullshit does NOT work, who are aware of its evils and recognize that it is morally wrong, economically unsustainable, and full of hypocrisy, but who throw up their hands and say 'but there's nothing I can really do about it, so I'll keep living like I live and buying like I buy.'

The notion that there's "nothing we can really do about it" is in the Establishment's interest to reinforce and they are very good at doing so.

Yes, there are plenty of concerts and festivals going on these days that have certain traditions as Woodstock and other ''hippie'' influenced shows. But the popularity of Woodstock is huge, and the number of people interested in it and the history behind it is vast. Woodstock got media attention and made a name for itself the day that the 400,000 people arrived. Sure, like I said previously, there's other successful events going on like bonaroo each year that also thrive to make a name for themselves as well, but the popularity and the involvement behind the 1960's counterculture that Woodstock had made it something special, and is seen as one of the last major ''good'' events of that generation. So with a concert so well known and popularized by mass media attention, it would attract more mainstream influences than any of the smaller concerts today. Just look at every Woodstock concert after the big one in '69. They were awful. I couldn't imagine what it would be like today.

And on the food/water supply, you couldn't blame them. How could it be possible to supply 400,000 people for three days straight when you're only expecting 90,000? It shouldn't be no surprise to anyone. After all, that is a hell of a lot of food and supplies.

I agree, there needs to be a revolution. There are SO many problems in this world, we're killing our earth making it so it won't be inhabitable here soon. Why are you worried about who's dating who, if your favorite show was canceled, or the dent in your car? There are far bigger and more important problems we are dealing with as human beings! No select type of person should worry about it, everyone should. Because when Mother Earth is done being mistreated she doesn't care if you're rich, or poor, no matter how many people like you or how smart or wise you are. we'll all go down as one, as we should be. There's no way we will be able to fix things unless we actually get out and DO something about it. We need to join together and do something, it's hard to change the world, but there needs to be change. We need to re think things and get our priorities straight. Stop being greedy and selfish, think about your Mother Nature.
