It's never too late There will be patches of perfection scattered everywhere though We'll just have to help the light shine through... BE the light
I just decided to not participate in society. I am en route for India. I think it is going to be 2 years before I am able to arrive there. (walking) I only hope that they do not have drone spying on me to stop from traversing frontieres.
I think they can spy on you from your passport. I think there are microchips embedded in the covers. On the back cover is a picture of an old satellite. Why or how they work or what they do? I don't know. I just know the covers are a lot thicker then my old passport. And if you have a 3G or satelite phone they can track you that way. It's very hard to travel the world and be incognito.
The myth of the American political system though is that the popular vote counts in a Presidential Election. I know I've told the story on here a thousand times but I'll tell it again. I had an interesting discussion with my Social Studies teacher in high school that went something like this: Teacher: In the presidential election you vote for an elector who then votes for who he want's for president. Me (knowing the electors name isn't on the ballot): So my vote doesn't count. Teacher: No your vote counts. You vote for an elector who then votes for who he want's for president. Me: So my vote doesn't count. It kind of went on like that for about 5 minutes. If the popular vote counted in this country then W. would never have become president. For all of his faults (and there were many) Nixon had a good idea when he proposed disbanding the Electoral College. It was a good idea when everything had to be mailed in or delivered by Pony Express but now in the days of automation and rapid desemination of information it should be considered obsolete. Stay Brown, Rev J
My discussion in high school government and economics class was similar but much shorter. Teacher: In the presidential election you vote for an elector who then votes for who he want's for president. Me: so, let me get this straight, I vote for an elector and he could then turn around and vote for Porky Pig..... Teacher: Well, he would have to vote for a real person. Me: ...... :|
See if you can find a film camera shield bag (remember when cameras were not digital?) It is made out of lead and would probably block a passport from transmitting. Typically you have to be within a few feet of a scanner for them to read your passport. If your phone is turned on, it is definitely going to transmit your location. If you turn it off until you need it you are probably okay. If you bag it with a shield bag, and it is turned off, you are even more certain not to be broadcasting your location.
any young deadheads on this thread? who likes the idea of starting a commune in preparation for the hippie revolution of 2015??? lets make it happen people!
the social revolution of the1960's didnt happen because the calender said 1960, it was because the youth decided it was time for change! it can happen again if we join together and believe in peace and love for everyone! cmon people lets give our grandchildren a reason to say they wish were alive during the revolution of 2015!!!
This is EXACTLY what the hippies did in the 1970s. We dropped out of the system as much as we could. However, dropping out didn't change anything in the greater society. It did allow many to live alternative lifestyles, but we all discovered that it got harder and harder to stay out of the system. They continued to pass laws limiting our freedoms. You don't even realize what we've lost in the last few decades! Once upon a time you could live in the Nat'l forests without hassles. Now you must pay thru the nose to stay one night in a forest. Even those Rainbow Gatherings which the authorities harass every year, might've once turned into thriving, permanent communities. But our freedom to do that vanished. You can't just create an ad hoc community anymore, only a virtual or temporary one (like Burning Man). No we must all be part of the SYSTEM now. A system that oppresses not only Americans, but kills innocent people halfway around the world in our name and in the name of Freedom. What a LIE! It's no longer an OPTION to drop out. No, we must ENGAGE the System and either transform it from the ground up, or destroy it if it fights back. See, it's no one thing. It's not just politics, or corporations, or governments. It's the whole shebang. And I believe it will soon be time to put this system to the test. This spring and summer there will be massive protests against the system. How will the System respond? More violence against the peaceful? I doubt the people will stand for it anymore. The police are out of hand. They answer only to themselves anymore. If the System does not protect the people against violence, then the System has betrayed America, and it will be up to each and every American to do something about it... Dropping out is no longer an option.
Skip, ever read "The Machine Stops" by E.M. Forster? It was written 103 years ago and predicts the Internet and predicts a world of people trapped in a prison of their own making. They became convinced that life was not possible beyond the reach of the Machine. Some modern zoos use psychological barriers to keep animals from escaping. The animal can escape but the zoo employs the animal's natural fears and instincts to make it think it has no way out. We are not zoo animals, but we can turn off the part of our brain that allows us to think our way out of problems, and we are no better than animals when we do that and we will have the same fate. I believe that in order for people to abandon the present system, we have to offer them a living breathing alternative. I am grateful for intentional communities (communes) CO-OPs, collectives, and individuals who go off grid. And a lot of people are inspired by the idea, but they don't know how to get from where they are to where they need to be. We need mentors, communicators, in plain English, folks who can lend a helping hand. While I think that National Forests should be managed primarily for conservation rather than developing into a city (preserving the headwaters of streams, home to wildlife, public recreation, I think that there is a place for planned green cities, towns or villages. I want to see crumbling cities like Detroit repurposed with green space, gardens and parks and green buildings. We need more ad hoc communities not less. I share your concern about regulating everyone everywhere at all times. I think this one reason people go to nudist camps for a weekend or even an entire summer. There are rules at the camps, but the place is designed with human need in mind. The sense of relief from the inhumane rules of clothed society is palpable. If you follow one rule: be kind to others, treat them like you would want to be treated, it eliminates the need to tell other people what to wear, what to say, what to think. I want to praise Jerome Belanger, founder of Countryside Magazine. He and his family left the city years ago to homestead and their magazine, carried on today by his family, still shows people how to escape. The articles are written by the readers. For the most part, the Belanger family just edits everything, but they turn out an occasional article too. But I am not disagreeing with you about the great impediment the present system imposes. We are on the verge of creating an alternative green society, but for it to come to full flower, we need to stop the forces working against it. Those who are already living "beyond the sidewalks" as Belanger used to say, are an inspiration to those who are fighting to make it possible on a much grander scale. Keep your eyes on the prize: an America and world that is free and green. With so much to gain, let's get started!
This music video makes my point in a symbolic way. Poor Leno. Sorry about the commercial that comes first. You can skip past it and I recommend doing so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJjhagh8dk4"]Röyksopp-Poor Leno - YouTube
I'll try my best to be there. I'm not to far away. Send out the word for Occupy the Supper bowl(sp). Right now we are in Indianapolis supporting our Democrat senate leaders who are in hiding (again, same thing happened last year). They will not show up and allow the Repub. majority to bully thru a 'Right to Work' law that will eliminate workers rights to have unions.
This is exactly how I see things! I'm so glad you shared this with us, it shows that we are not alone! I had to cut a good friend off within that past few days because his attitude towards life was bringing the quality of my life down! He was always angry, he never wanted to joke! If we are all truly serious about creating a better lifestyle, and a better world, it starts within each and every one of us. one love.
ive been thinking about comin down to check out the occupy indy scene it sounds like a cool trip and im just up in northwest indiana
THIS POST IS FOR THE PEOPLE WHP WERE TALKING ABOUT A BIG CONCERT THAT WOULD BE COOL TO CAMP AT FOR DAYS... I agree that would be cool to throw a concert and camp out for a few days.but people do it all the time everywhere. Like near where I live they have an event called bonaroo and a bunch of hippies and some other people come out for a few days and camp and sit back relax, listen to the best music around & be yourself. So any event like that would be great to attend, but not just for the music and drugs. Events like that gather all of us together from different places so we can enjoy what we love the most, and not be surmised for anyone who looks at us differently. So I do agree with you about that, someone should throw like the biggest concert for people who are like us, it would be a farout if that :sunny:happend:sunny:
Everyday I try to bring peace and love to those around me or those I dont know. It feels good to help someone out in need that has nothing or no body to turn too. So when I can I give my clothes, shoes, what food I got and much more to the those out there who have nothing. So I try to make a difference everyday even if its just a small little thing, like help serve for down at the shelter.Even the littliest gesture of kindness towards someone else can really make there bad day turn somewhat better... The thing I believe the most is peace and love brings happeness and from that happeness comes joy... So if your really a hippy and love the life style like I do...then try little things at a time to help someone or something that needs it. love, peace,&happiness goes a long way and can change the world if everyone would try... :sunnyeave & Love Everyone:sunny:
