I'm a white female from Southern California….. I can tell you that after moving to New York I realized just how nice Californians really are. Things like waving to people, greeting people politely, treating cashiers with respect and jovial conversation, helping hold doors open, picking up items for people when they've dropped them…. were ALL met with looks of shock as if they had never experienced a kind person. #somethingwrongwiththeworld. its awesome when a Mexican calls you pinche wedda because her boyfriend is looking at you lol
Hey I'm from San Diego. I volunteered a lot of time downtown with them, all the way to 39th. They do get crazy, but there are also some nice people experience unfortunate situations.
Whatchu gon do holmes??! me too… plus the mexican food is the best im going back in a couple months for a test and to see my fam. ciella la voca pinche punta! lol
The mexican food is good yes.. A girl i work with who is mexican, her and her mom always make reallly good tamales and she brings them for me at work. they always make different kinds. Its awesome. idk if youve ever been to mexico but the food there is so good and realllllly cheap. like 3 bucks for a full on meal
ya tamales are pretty good, we don't have real mexican food here there are no spices in it so I make it at home ya of course I've been to Mexico went when I was really young, plus we used to border hop to drink before we were 21. TJ is the place for that but can be shady sometimes. I've had some crazy times there. Also, camping in Baja is fun… I've been as far south as Guerro / Ixtapa which is a major tourist place and south of Alcupolco with a few islands to hop. Its super fun and super cheap too!
Next time go to a real mexican town like Tijuana or Sinaloa or san felipe. Not to get to far off topic though. The guy might have just been weird. or drunk.
If thats the case his reaction seems perfectly normal. People in LA are rude and always on guard. I remember being in Norcal and tripped the fuck out the first time randoms started saying hi to me on he street. I was like WTF!?!?!?
That's the kind of shit that happens at mcdonalds. All the crazy fucks hang out there begging. And about people being nice, I remember when I moved back to Florida about 10 years ago after having not lived here for my entire adolescence and high school days. I was used to assholes, yuppies, and gang bangers from living up north. My cousin and I were walking down a beach access and 3 black guys were walking back off the beach.. I said something to him like you ready to throw down? He looked at me all confused. When we all passed each other they said what's up and kept going. I was like wtf? Stopped and looked back at them trying to figure out what just happened. I was accustomed to getting robbed or jumped by black males in numbers of 3+, or at least them talking shit as they walk by. In big northern (cold weather) cities it seems like everyone is more rude and has the fuck everyone attitude, and there's more racial tension. So a black person can't be simply a crazy asshole, or racist himself? It's always the whites fault. You are fucking ridiculous.
Yeah it sounds like he was either crazy or actually talking to himself and certainly he could've been racist. I really haven't spent anytime in downtown SD, but I've spent a lot of time in North County. Up there you rarely see a black person. I've heard some people say things there that are just...inappropriate, ignorant would be the correct word because they just don't know any black people and make a lot of assumptions. In general though they are very nice...sometimes, maybe overly nice. Maybe that's where this guy was coming from. But I want to think he wasn't talking to the OP or else he was a bit off. I agree with the difference between the North and the South as well as CA. When I was in middle school(near D.C. they don't think of themselves as Southern) there was a huge race feud where everyone had to declare whether they were on the "black" side or the "latino" side. I was coming from the South and even though I knew some kids made racial jokes and some teachers were definitely racist, it was usually quiet and secretive. This was a full out war. I had never experienced anything like that. And this was in the suburbs, by the way.
