Our planet is just as much useful for their purposes as it is now for us, so I don't think they will idly sit back and watch it get destroyed just yet. So many of them came for the gold and used us to get it, now we have our own technokogies and ways of doing things will only benefit them also.

What did you think Space Force was all about?

what we want is to keep the universe relatively safe for (all) sapient life, so i sort of think we'd rather see humans 'grow up', which means leaving their shared species narcissism behind, then destroy themselves or have to be, for the protection of everyone else. but if humans would rather destroy themselves then grow up, well that would be sad, but it does protect everyone else from the threat of their self centered perspective.

destroying a planet and all life on it, is so easy, that if that were what anyone wanted, they would have done so a long time ago.
(tractor beam+ftl+one big rock, (and let fly from further away then anyone on it can reach) = scratch one planet)

this is what religious fanatics want you to think, to assume, the rest of the universe is for and because of us.

every world is unique, and thus by the very nature of the diversity of the worlds on which it takes place, evolution follows its own path, on each of them.

solar systems are far enough apart though, that few are ever close enough to each other, to make a round trip, to and return from,
any one to any other, within the span of any one individual's natural lifetime.

even if all or nearly all of them (which they might), had at least one planet in its goldylocks zone, and that planet hosting life.

life is an accident of the universe and sapience an accident of life.
there may be gods, there may be all sorts of things,
but the universal wonder of strangeness is not personal,
and owes nothing to any one belief.

I think any alien race that is able to travel vast distances wouldn't "need" to conquer any planet with life on it. They'd already have the technology to teraform or mine the resources from lifeless planets using machines/AI.

The Star Trek thing has it spot on that, aliens should only reveal themselves to other alien intelligent civilisations who has the technology to travel faster than the speed of light, or at least has the capability to colonise planets on other solar systems. Right now I think humanity isn't united enough to be classed as peaceful enough of be part of a much, much bigger better easier way of life in a galactic community of species helping each other of prosperity for all.

I do believe we should have a defensive military though, just in case an alien species does want to invade us. But to be honest I don't think we'd stand a chance at all, right now.

  7. I'm sure aliens know how to build weapons, but I doubt they use them much, if at all. Warfare is all a human thing, where we have these petty differences and solve them by killing each other. I don't know why an alien species would want to interact with a species like ours, that does this. They probably are just infinitely more mature than we are.

I agree but at the end of the day, all of life is a warfare.
Life is basically bacteria, fungi etc. We just happen to be lucky enough to be top of the food chain of our planet these days, but our planet just can not sustain our current population amount. So we can either choose to leave this planet to colonise other planets, or just stop having babies entirely.

If we would be an obstruction for an extraterrestrial intelligent species that's interested in our planetary resources (which we likely won't be at all), they would just make the atmosphere toxic for us or something. But it could very well be they just do their thing with us watching and perishing. Happily the galaxy (let alone the whole universe) is vast and its just as likely a more advanced species does not live in the same time period or area of space as us. IF there is/has been/will be actually such a species at all.

    Makes sense.
I think we can both colonise space and continue living on this planet for millenia. Trying to do both seems the wisest way. Less babies is good. No babies in the end not.

i don't think anyone wants us destroyed.
what "they" want, is to keep us, from fucking up the rest of the universe,
the way columbus brought to the western hemisphere.

i think the elite have an agreement with aliens to allow them to experiment on us in exchange for us not getting exploded by alien ray guns

it may be that there are rogue worlds who would like to destroy the galactic united nations and would like to manipulate us into fighting on their side to do so.
when its them vs them, its generally the wisest course to stay out of it.

If there are such things as a kind of galactic union and rogue worlds warring against it, isn't it highly unlikely they have a significant use for us puny humans on the 'battlefield'? It's more likely we are ignored because we're insignificant in comparison or not at all in the picture. If we were in the picture we might be cattle, fuel or merely collateral damage while they exploit our planet.

maybe they know more about us than we know about ourselves. maybe we're not so puny. maybe we're weapons.

  17. All human thought seems to revolve around fighting wars. Games, movies, politics. There's always a bad guy to kill. Are we so myopic that we can't see there is an alternative?

One in five Americans insist the sun revolves around the earth while, in other countries, its closer to one in three, and myopia is not the issue. The workaholic Japanese and white US and EU populations are now decreasing fast, because nature has her own ideas about how we should live. Soon enough, the idiots will either have to listen to computers telling them what to do all the time, or die that much faster. Despite the advances in modern medicine and an overwhelming abundance of resources, they are killing themselves and driving their own children away, insisting the entire time that their idiotic, self-indulgent, and selfish behavior is only natural and is unavoidable.

Life expectancy has been decreasing in the developed world, right along with all the money floating to the top, and I suggest people encourage the idiots to kill themselves and each other before they destroy the entire planet. No doubt, they will complain and call you mean names, but talking to them is a complete waste of time. Send your favorite overweight idiot a case of their favorite food and liquor, and watch the pigs kill themselves and call you names for giving them what they want and demand. Me, I'm working on the analog logic required to explain to their children how to avoid becoming another fucking loser, and how to encourage the idiots to die that much faster.

Its sad really, having to tell children their parents are insane assholes and their whole culture is going down the toilet, and attempting to drag the rest of the fucking world down with them. I'm afraid when Muslims start to make serious money its going to reach new lows as they compete with Christians for who is the lesser of many evils. Their lifestyles only make sense if 30 is the average lifespan, which it was for a long time...

We are puny compared to intergalactic space travellers. How would we not be? Not saying we don't have potential btw. And how in earth (pun) would we be significant weapons for such aliens? Maybe if our blood is toxic to the enemy and we're turned into (living ) meat bag explosives? :p
