Its kinda like teaching a blind person colors... But I'm sure you have more of a chance of that then making an educated thread last more than one page without some idiot having to put in his 2 cents... The world has severely dumbed down since the 90s.. seems like something swept the nation and now half the people born past 1990 are just retarded.. or maybe its just the lack of responsibility these kids have.. almost seems like they have it made now. but every generation says this.. but its true with innovation comes more and more laziness and stupidity

Yeh, a lot of people I know are severely lazy and stupid. Most of my good friends are the ones that actually use their minds. It is really sad how much lack of responsibility I see though. My brother is the laziest mother fucker I have ever met. And he pisses me off how he is so lazy. "Nick, do this, please" after this show... **After the show** 'Nick, can you go do it now, please?", "Just let this commercial end." That is usually when I walk out of the room to prevent myself from kicking his fucking teeth in. It is sad, because a lot of people just don't have the sense to be able think in a manor that is acceptable. Like they have a one-track mind and if you start saying something when they pause they just start talking again, because they don't understand the concept of someone else talking before their story is out. Pisses me off like no other.

what you seem to not understand is that highschool may just teach you facts and numbers you may never use again, it also teaches you HOW to learn. imo you cant argue that you would be better off not taking it then would

it's not even about "working and planning for the future" as u say it's about creating a better situation for yourself and when you could do somthing that would cut time and effort in half would seem the smarter route then grinding it out.

seriously, wow what is up ur ass?

not all stoners are deadbeats, i smoke weed, graduated univeristy, planning a wedding, i have a good fucking job. pretty good life.

If your going to rant like that you need to make sure you dont generalize. Majority of the ppl you will meet in your life time, will smoke weed. For some a joint is like a beer after work. Not all potheads are idiots, just a small percentage really.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I would argue that stoners are viewed badly by a majority of people because those people have bought into the hype that marijuana is so bad and they see stoner stereotypes on TV and think "oh those stoners are so silly" instead of educating themselves (and why would they? they don't smoke) all the while sipping their legal alcohol.

I would like to make a few points, if I may?

If we are talking about Americans here, then I say that "FUck you, I do what I want!" attitude is just how many kids are raised by the televition to believe. Somehow these people do not understand that everything is interconected, and affects one another. Shit man, I mean, learn some physicis. My point here is: you dont have to do drugs or alcohol to be an asshole.

Secondly, alcoholics do just as much damage to society and themselves and potheads do. Simple.

And lastly, if you're"respecting the leaf," and not hurting anyone, ... try to keep it that way. I mean, afterall, don't we all want to be free? Freedom comes with a price, and that price is "moderation." haha. Don't get stoned before you show up to a job interview, damn it! I used to be a manager and I hated that shit. The point I'm trying to make here is: Enjoy it at the right time! Have some kind of respect for yourself and others out there.

One more thing, though; In the past I have snoked at the wrong time and I think it's safe to say I have learned to have the best time ever, by balancing all things. Job, famliy, friends, personal time, partying, etc....

    Just some thoughts.

I love how anyone in their low 20's is called off as a fucking geezer around here. He's just enough older than you to have seen a couple more years of high school and a few of college. Do you think some magical transformation happens to everyone in that span of years that takes them from a carefree kid to "a mean angry person"? If you're really 16 then you're on a fast track to pathetic, and I care as little about the fact that you don't care what I think about you as you care about what I think about you.

?? That's 88% of what high school was good for. High school is for teaching you to participate in how knowledge enters your brain. It shows you how to both actively put information into yourself and absorb it passively, both while filtering through it for what you'll use later. Of course you won't actually use most of what they teach you, and any good teacher will tell you so. If they have to listen to you ask stupid questions like "When are we gonna use this!?" then they just aren't going to waste their time explaining it to you.

I wasn't around to see this post back in the day, dj, but it's a good one.

a small percentage? i doubt it.

imo of Marijuana users the actuall percentage of idiots who make others look bad heavilly outweighs the responsible user, and even if it was the other way, it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch, the people who call themselves "stoners" are generally the ones are are irresponsible with their actions [again a generalization but i feel the % of bad users again outweighs the responsible] they have a mentality of a "stoner" therefor in their own head they have preconceived notions of what and how they should act, and what their personal opinions on MJ use and laws regarding that use.

Ask somone under 20 who's never used Marijuana or drank Alchohol what they think of police, they will probably have an understanding, well thought out point and response to their answer

Now ask a MJ user what they think of police...what do u think the response is going to be?

As i'm sure i've said earlier in this thread, irresponsible users take on a widespread mindset that goes along with being a stoner, with this also comes stupidity and stereotypes that these very stoners perpetuate, causing mainstream media and individuals who have really know idea what MJ is all about to automatically form a negative opinion on the matter.

I like your opening point there "If we are talking about americans" somthing i've really noticed talking on another LARGE american based internet forum which also is populated by users from the ages of 14-25 is that the American constingent of users are almost all HEAVILLY against pot use, and automatically throw out the typical stereotypes "Hahah dumb stoner, why dont u go learn rather then killing brain cells" "lol i dunno why people think pictures of weed are to drool over, fuckin idiots its just a plant" then the American kids who actually do like and use weed are too scared they will get flamed if they show any sort of support or even post that they like smoking.

What i get from these opinions is that all these kids were heavilly influenced by programs like D.A.R.E and other in-school early age programs to discourage drug use, they see it from a completely negative standpoint and are not even open to opinions on the subject, only to hate and disagree on users, again throwing out the media potrayed stereotypes and using example of "dumb stoners in my school" etc.

to sum it up, it seems like the perhaps largest government and society that is oposed to recreational drug use, and which also may have the largest user base, is the same society pushing a bad image into the publics eye.

BTW, thanks thered for explaining my point on how high school is for learning.

    High school is for learning?

I think saying it is for memorizing information, making a good grade on a test, then moving on to a completely different thing to memorize and have the process repeated.

At least, that's what I and many others have gotten out of high school. You don't need to go to high school to be "educated." I feel that most of my education has been self-taught through books read on my own time, and most of my teachers would agree with that.

Sure, every now-and-then there are teachers that ACTUALLY want to teach you something, but for the most part it's all memorization methods.

That's what I'm saying: of course it's not for learning. The teachers that acknowledge that you learn more from reading a book fall in my line of thought, too. Reading a good book teaches you more about how to absorb and really, really process information than your average class does. I hate boiling down reading to such a bland form, but that's the part of it that I'm talking about.
There are so many kids to "teach" in a high school that the most efficient way to do it is to put them in a room, give them (mostly) useless, (mostly) boring information to digest and hope they pick up critical thinking skills. "Critical thinking" classes do exist, but they take a really good teacher and students who know what they're doing to pull off.
