You know why stoners are viewed badly by the rest of the world?

When did expressing your views and subjected data become 'performing the role of God'? Not once did he stereotype stoners at a whole, he just called most of them idiots, and that's true. Becoming so defensive over such a statement only shows insecurity. And how many people have you met that absolutely love working their ass off in a shit job in a shit city to live a shit life? I've met many who live in the slums of Oakland, San Francisco, etc. and not one has wanted to stay in their current situation.

you go to a job every single day sober, the 1st day you show up stoned/show up to pick up your paycheck people notice

you got to a job every day stoned, the first day you come sober, people discredit it

my original intent was never to offend people over overall life sitatuons/work enviroments, but i was stoned and trailed off into that

respect is everything in this world, when marijuana one day may be actually generally advised to be perscribed as a perscription, when it's use is openly free and charges involve nothing more then a fine

when people who only care about getting high, and living their life realize that weed is merely an addition to their lives, thats when it will be accepted

it isnt the war on drugs ruining marijuana legalization

it isnt kids with red eyes eating taco bell after school

is isnt the old man smoking a joint in his workshop after a days work

it's the kids who have no buisness in a drug game getting rolled with 50k worth of coke, it's the kids smoking weed beside their high school with 2 ounces in their backpacks, it's the kids who just happen to get caught driving while under the influence of marijuana that make the good semeritans look bad.

ps, i tried to beat my world record 40oz attempt tonight and drank 3/4 of a 2/6 of vodka before typing this so disregard if it makes no sense.

Yeah, I agree with you digitaldj. Reading about the Global Marijuana March in my city I'm finding a lot of people generally being idiots about the whole thing, such as "well, if I can't show up and smoke spliffs the whole time I'm not going to go." Even after it's been explained to them that doing that would get the march shut down. And I can't help but think that if these are the kind of people turning up to march then marijuana will never be legalised.

And people like those teenagers who gave the 5 and 2 year old kids weed; what fucking dumbasses. That kind of stuff contributes a lot to the negative stereotype.

I guess it's the stoners themselves who are hurting the cause. Not all of them, of course, just the idiots and the people who lay around doing nothing but smoking all day.

Getting older does provide a little hindsight - but in defense of the more adventurous the "do as I say not as I do" thing always did seem full of sh!t.

With risk comes excitement, is it better to get it out of your system before you can be tried as an adult? Hmmmmm

actually, evolution favors the less intelligent (at least on a personal level), generally the less educated a person is the more children they will have, and vice versa.
clarification: evolution may favor a species as a whole because it's intelligent, this is why humans have been so successful in evolutionary terms, but on an individual level, the dumber you are the more successful you will be in spreading your genes. this is pretty much true across all societies and cultures.

as for DDJ's origional post, i think that you are confusing the highschool 'clique' and the real life version of a stoner. in high school most children are fucking lost, and need to find some meaning in their life. some kids take up sports, video games, chess, whatever, only for a way to fit in.
rebellious children (and i was one), will be attracted to "socially unacceptable" groups, and will want to emulate their idea of the perfect member.
and rebellious children are freaking idiots... we all were.

once you graduate high school there aren't really any more cliques, and most of that bob marley "loookit me i'm so high, i bet this pisses mommy and daddy off, pwned" stuff kinda disappears.

hell, taken as a whole, drug usage transcends class, gender, ethnic, and religous lines. there are pot smokers in every strata of society (and i wouldn't be surprised if there were some in the white house, it sure explains a lot). the ones who work at burger king just don't care whether or not you know, while the ones who are accountants tend to keep it on the DL.

It's like how people aren't crazier during a full moon, just easier to see.

i can agree with you for the most part, but the potheads i know are some of the smartest people i know. they're the ones who tend to be more relaxed, and have a more realistic view on life.

and by realistic, i don't mean they want to work at burger king for the rest of their lives. although, one might, but he's not really a pothead, he's just lazy.

there is a point in smoking where if you smoke too much, you will end up on pete's couch doing nothing for hours except getting munchies and watching tv or playing video games. the only thing wrong with this scenario is when it gets abused and turns into an everyday thing where the habitual marijuana smokers turn away from their real lives. marijuana is not there for you to disrespect it and abuse it, so instead or getting toasted, get merely baked, and indulge in a different activity than sitting on the couch eating. go out and run a few miles, play some music, or play some sports. getting toasted is best in moderation, maybe on a friday night when work had you down during the week and you chose to chill and rip your bong while watching aqua teen hunger force. but not everyday.

in my view, it's only looked down upon because non users do not choose to see the energetic, creative minds of those who use in moderation and can get things done, as opposed to just settling their minds on the couch sitters. /rambling

 

This is why, in my world, there are "stoners" AND "smokers" and they are certainly not the same thing.
"Stoners" are the ones that get stoned, eat, sit around and play video games all day. They're the ones that end up working at McDonalds and such for the rest of their lives, pretty much living in their parents' basements. You know the type.
"Smokers" are just that, the ones that smoke like normal human beings. My husband, roommate and myself (and most of our friends) consider ourselves "smokers". We're pretty much stoned all the time, and sure, a few of us ARE high-school dropouts... but some of 'em are still in high school on honour roll, one's in school to be an aircraft mechanic, a few have kids and are doing just fine... we're all still very functional at any given time, but we smoke pretty much all day long. We figure, when you're stoned, you're stoned... why waste your weed getting STUPID stoned? It's not even fun, really.

I agree. Kids treat it like its legal and arent as careful as they should be. Alot of ppl get busted cuz of that.

well said digitall. i agree with your second post more but your first was also very true. now i smoke mostly as often as feasable. but i work hard for my success. i totally agree that the lazy good for nothing burnouts are fucking it up for the rest of us, i know plenty unfourtunately. i mean ive made a mistake or 2, but ive learned from it and become much more careful, which is a something that some of these kids never do. for them they just think "whatever, ill do what i want" and get busted over and over and over again. its just sad. so good post digitall
