like $12. not a terrible deal, since i've paid that much for a small one before.

    there's actually a story:
i got it from Costco, because i saw it in a bin, price marked $3.99. i was like "fuck yeah! that is an awesome deal." but of course it was too good to be true, it was some other beer that was 3.99

i split this one with my wife, and i've got a nice buzz from my half

cool thats usually what it cost here. I remember getting it for $7.99 because the dude didnt know what it cost and I said its equal to 3, 12oz beers that are $2.66 each.. I got away with that for about a month..

    DOOD.

Then you MUST read Diaspora. This is UNBELIEVABLE. I myself am a Niven fan and Diaspora just made all that look like child's play. I've never read anything like it. One of the ONLY fairly realistic imaginings of the deep future I've ever read. This guys my new favorite sci-fi author for sure. Incredible stuff. Check out the first chapter, which describes the process of creating a purely digital being from scratch, (insane) here:

my recommendation to you is "Pandora's star" by Peter Hamilton. also a fairly realistic hard science fiction story, but also pretty space opera-ey...though i'm not exactly clear on what that term means.

Right on. I'll check it out. Read that first chapter when you have a chance. A plot emerges after that, that is a purely technical description of sculpting a digital mind from zilch. Which I thought was fucking rad.

"Space opera" is like your Star Wars type stuff. Big focus on character development and drama. No real attention paid to the physics/mechanics of what is happening or the technology being imagined. No reference to actual scientific concepts. The plot device trumps all.

Whereas "hard sci-fi" obviously deals more with known science, established understanding and theories about the universe. Doesn't necessarily mean its true, everything in Diaspora is certainly not, though it utilizes actual concepts borrowed from physics, chemistry, astrophysics and this sort of thing. This sort of thing (borrowed from a New York Times review):

This is why I love it so :D

All that being said, this is also a fantastic, fantastic read. A real page turner without the cheese. Just an incredible exploration into the nature of reality and the future, what mind is and how we might one day apply it

I'm dropping in here to be proud of "my" QB, Cam Newton, of the Carolina Panthers. He just won the NFL Most Valuable Player award tonight! [IMG]

The Panthers will be playing (Irmi's) Broncos tomorrow in the Super Bowl. I'll have some firecrackers made in advance. :D

Edit: AND Cam was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year!

Some Venom OG on the menu today

I'm trying to keep with smoking only one strain throughout each day or if it's something really nice I might smoke on it two days in a row. Get a good feel for the characteristics of it. As opposed to smoking multiple strains throughout the day. It's nice to to spend a bit of time getting intimate with em, I'm finding

"fuely" is a pretty good way to describe the taste don't you think? Tough to describe for sure. And fuely doesn't quite cut it if you're trying to describe it to someone who never smoked cannabis or at least never smoked a prominent kush. That would definitely give the wrong impression. But that's the best I've found

well i can notice that taste in diesel strains for sure. maybe it's more subtle in the OG kush strains. for me the "fuely" flavor is kind of a harsh smoke that doesn't go down that smooth, might be kinda harsh or make you cough. but all those things have a negative connotation...the smoke from Sour D is all of those things, yet pleasant :)
i can see how these kush strains have a similar taste though.

i'm with you on smoking the same one for a few days. if you are constantly mixing it up, it's hard to tell the difference. for me, i usually get two (maybe 3) strains in bulk that last me awhile. so after the first week, i have them figured out pretty well, so then i will smoke each one within the same day. maybe start my day with a sativa, end with an indica....or just smoke what tastes good, or is easiest to get to :)

Totally depends on a bunch of variables, some it comes through more pronounced than others depending on many things

Sour Diesel is a F1 hybrid derived from Chemdawg and I forget what else of the top of my head but the Chemdawg is prominent, which if you have authentic genetics has that super piercing fuelly smell and very prominent taste that lingers strongly for minutes on the exhale. Which is where the diesel's get their "fuel" from. Sour D really shows you the power of the hybrid vigor method if done properly, very nice way to get potent ass strains (mid 20%s) and robust ass nugs and yields. Chemdawg been around for a while, the breeder (Chem Dog, coincidentally) has been working it since like the early 1990s. Way before it got the name for itself it currently enjoys as a top shelf strain
