If you think of a memory from your childhood, you were technically not there. There is not a single atom in your body, currently, that was there from when you were a child.

I've read in a piece of AA Literature that every... I think... 20,000 seconds - or hours- or something like that, all the atoms that make up our physical selves die and are replaced. (???) Not sure if this is true.

 

Atoms are not eternal, when they "die" they get replaced.

 

Uhhh, atoms don't "die", they are not living entities.

Maybe you are thinking of "cells". The cells that comprise our physical bodies die and reproduce at an alarming rate.

For an atom to "die" it needs to have it's nucleus split and the electrons, protons and neutrons fly out and hit other atoms which in turn split and so on and so on, until you end up with what is known as nuclear fission, and a big fucking explosion.
So the atoms in your body never "die", they just get utilized into some other cellular structure.
Nuclear fission is the only way to "kill" an atom.

Maybe the OP and a few others need to go back to 7th grade science class.
and one member should invest in the entire "See Spot Run" series of educational primers to help with his reading and spelling.
