Yoko completed John. She was the woman he chose to be his soul mate. John didn’t care if you liked that or not. Be it the Beatles or anybody. He LOVED her! Sure John had his famous 18-month lost weekend, but he came back to Yoko. Only Yoko filled the emptiness John was experiencing without her at his side. True love mates! I could never put that label of breaking up the Beatles on her! That would too big of a cross for any human to bear! Let it be……
I don't like Yoko. Not because she "broke up the Beatles" (which she didn't, at least not directly directly) but because of the way she manipulated John. There's a book I read, a long long time ago, by a man whose last name I believe was Seaman (I forget what the book was called...) Anyway he was a personal assistant for John for quite a while, and he wrote a book about how Yoko always treated him like shit and all John did was try to please her - I hate to think about people being treated that way. Oh and yes, she did introduce him to heroin... and then went off on vacation while he was in rehab for it - nice woman. The other reason I don't like her is because she totally froze out Julian, John's son with Cynthia. Julian was on Larry King a couple of years back (a total spitting image of John too, both sweet and alarming) and was saying how when his dad died, Yoko gave him NOTHING of John's at all - not a thing. She kept stuff herself, gave stuff to Sean, and sold other stuff, not offering any momentos to John's other child. Julian was (at that point) using a lot of his money to buy back his father's things at auction. Cold bitch. And no, she can't sing. Not that that has anything to do with her as a person at all, I just don't like her voice - just a personal opinion. About her breaking up the Beatles? No, I don't think so..although I don't think it helped matters. The boys were all going in different directions and fighting a lot - but I think it was probably really annoying to have her around all the time at rehersals and recordings and everything... that would drive anyone nuts. But no, she didn't break them up.
^ I agree. She's not the lovable freak everyone thinks she is. She did everything she could to try and mould John into what she thought he should be, and continues to exploit, to a certain degree, his name (anyone remember the John Lennon Converse shoe?). She screwed Julian out of any memories of his father as well, I guess he didn't fit into her idea of their perfect family.
I despise Yoko. Not for breaking up The Beatles- cause the Beatles broke up the Beatles (and I'm grateful because I got All Things Must Pass out of the deal). I hate her for tearing John away from Julian, for Using and manipulating John, for selling off his work for fame and money, for turning him into a BrandName when all he wanted was to be respected as a musician and songwriter. John is not my favorite Beatle (in fact, he's my least favorite) but he doesn't deserve to have his art sold off by that woman. And on a shallow note, for ruining "Whole Lotta Yoko" from Rock and Roll Circus with that horrifying thing she called a voice. ~Layla
She`s just a woman who happened to fall in love with John Lennon and he fell in love with her. Who has any right to stop people falling in love or have a say over it. It was between two people and those two people only. If the Beatles weren`t famous, then nobody would have given a rat`s arse.
This is a warning tale for you kiddies, if you do too much drugs you could end up fucking yoko ono and ruining a good band then get shot.
Also Yoko was too cheap or dumb not too sugest getting a body guard while out in a Lemo car. In dangerus New York City!. and real money was not the issue.
I know the official and true story. My word is final. Mwa. Yoko did not break up the Beatles. She may have contributed, but they'd have split anyway. Yoko and Paul did attempt to buy the beatles catalogue, but MJ outbid them. Yoko did license John's name to Nike. They're also making an action figure, but I don't know what company. I just can't make myself like her. I don't think John was stupid, but I honestly don't know if she manipulated him or not. He'd certainly tell you she didn't. But there's some things she's done since his death that are pretty damn suspect.
John was never stupid but YOKO had her ways. Living in New York jet set crowd was Yoko idea . now think about it.. you think John really wanted to be in that cess pool call New York City with the jetset crowd ? The others Beatles lived as far as they could from the rat race and big crowds unless they were at a recording studio or a rare exclusive club concert.
I like Yoko Ono and i dont think she killed The Beatles man.I think the love between her and John Lennon was really deep and true.
It is interesting to hear about all the attraction to, and repulsion from, Yoko in this thread. The nature of people's actions including their thoughts are often mysterious; better to be cautious about prejudging someone. Sounds like Yoko is a deeply inspired artist who is strong-minded; I liken my awareness of some of her alledged behavior, such as her early relationship with Julian after John's passing onward, to something like a "bull in a 'china' shop." Any feeling of "possessing" these people, John, Yoko, Julian and Sean, is wrong; we should assist people to learn from their errors rather than "foolishly trying to 'beat truth into them,' even if vicariously for pure or less than pure motives." I wish Yoko well, I hope she is OK. Peace. .
Yoko gives me the creeps. I saw a documentary one time that she was in, and she has a horrible demeanor. Then again i dont know so much about her. peace and love
I really don't care about Yoko Ono, just because I don't know enough of her to make a decent "judgement" about her...
