Yoko gets a bad rap from most, especially Julian. But also from Paul and Ringo. George was able to socialize with her, but then he was the quiet one and the most peaceable. But we don't know the truth do we? And BTW very few people can sing. It took guts to record some of the things she did. Or arrogance. I have a recording of Linda singing "Hey Jude" with Wings that sounds much MUCH worse. Who cares? A tad judgemental about this aren't we? The Beatles have been gone for 35 years. Why does it matter why they broke up? Get over it.
She wasn't the main cause for the breakup of the Beatles. There were conflicts between all of the band members during the last few years that the band was together. She might've caused some problems, but I think the band was just tired of being together. The breakup of the Beatles was probably a good thing anyway, because it let the four make their own music without the disapproval of the other three.
I don't really have reasons to ahte or praise her i guess. John Lennon was a complete arm chair commie btw. I mean while everyone was out there at the baricades he's sleeping with her for peace. Oh good for you john.
when lennon met her, she was an artist, not a singer. he met her at a gallery display of her art. i can't sing either. and do we really use american idol as a guide? is that really the state of the music world? that's disgusting. i am also too young to know what really went on, as far as her killing the beatles. there are probably 8 sides to that story. i saw the broadway show. it was ok. yoko was sitting right in front of us, and dancing, and giving peace signs to all. it was cool. i even got a flower from the hippy scene. i got a good photo of her, but it's not digital. she definitely had her hands all in it, though. it was very pro-yoko. that's my 2 cents. peace. LP
geez, add some more answers to that poll please. I fucking hate her, but I'm smart enough to know that she didn't killed the beatles.
yeah, that's why George and Ringo were the first to leave, right? top 3 reasons why i hate her: if she wouldn't have been such a closed-minded bitch, she could've joined forces with Paul and bought the rights to all the beatles songs.. instead, she ignored Paul and Michael Jackson owns them all now, or atleast he did. and for the whole shoe thing too. and because she honestly believed she was a beatle..
She was doing her, um, singing before she met John. Also, she and Paul DID try to buy the Beatles catalogue together, and Michael Jackson outbid them. She doesn't bother me. Supposedly, she cured Lennon of wife hitting. He admited to this. She also, supposedly, may have introduced him to heroin, not good. She doesn't bother me. She is a damn strong womyn, and there will always be people who HATE that in all ways. She more a business person than an artist.
Because people don't quote the Barenaked Ladies nearly enough: I know that when I say this I may be stepping on pins and needles. But I don’t like all these people Slagging her for breaking up the Beatles. (don’t blame it on Yokey!) If I was John and you were Yoko, I would gladly give up musical genius, Just to have you as my very own, personal Venus. You can be my Yoko Ono You can follow me wherever I go Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono, oh, oh, ooohhhhh.....
rolling stones rock and roll circus had a bloody good band- lennon, clapton, mitch mitchell and yoko fukin ononono the yoghurt... (ruined it)
I don't think she made that much of a difference in the destiny of the Beatles. I'm a HUGE Beatles fan; I love the music, the culture, the attitudes, and the individuals, but I think that they were bound to break up (no pun intended); it's like getting married at a young age, then undergoing major personal changes/growth, and deciding you're not so close to your partner anymore. Besides, I can't judge whether or not I like her, in reality, because I don't know her personally.
I've always had dislike for her, because I was feeding in to the whole "she killed the Beatles" mind set. After reading this thread, I've learned a lot more, and now I have a little more respect for her, after all she did watch her husband get shot in front of her. I don't like her singing very much, especially when she sings that one line in Bungalow Bill (White Album). I'm trying to get to see "Lennon", but first I need a job to get money for tix. I guess some love Yoko, and some hate Yoko, but to each his/her own.
Totally unrelated to the Beatles, I had a really weird nightmare about being pursued through the streets of New York by a lovestruck Yoko Ono. I don't know what this says about my feelings about the woman.
