I was forced to birth a cake early because school is almost ending (only one more week) and I was just about to crumbel the substrate up to make tea out of because I thought that the cake was useless, but then I noticed several small brown dots and right before I started tearing into the cake. They have almost doubeled in size between yesterday when I noticed them, and this morning! I was so happy I didn't make tea out of it and I am psyched to grow some mushrooms, this is my first successful grow! Does anyone know how long it takes for a small pin to grow into a mushroom?
couple of days to a week....also depends on what kind...some take longer to pin and grow....so when you have a cake and after some time you see nothing just wait a little bit longer. be patient young grasshoppa
I just wanted to give yall an update, cuz I have been obsessed with this project ever since I got the pins, it has been truly fasinating. This is my first successfull grow and I am psyched. I hope you are also interested or, respect my urge to vent what is brooding in my mind. I have 7 decent sized mushrooms, they started growing 5 days ago and they are alredy 5" long bulking up nicely. I have 3 little 1 inchers comming up and numerous little pins comming up everyday. This is only on about 1/3 of a 1/2 pint cake because I was forced to birth early due to time constraints. I am very happy with the yield for such a small fruiting cake, I wish I had a camera to take pictures for you all!
mycelium doesn't produce a useful amount of psilocin/psilocybin until its mature enough. if the cake isn't entirely ready to birth, its definitely not ready to use in tea. usually you only know that its any good if you've at least had some pins growing on it...otherwise you'll be SORELY disappointed. either way is hard to tell if you'll really get a good trip out of it.
I had given up hope because the end of the year is comming up so soon and there were so few days left I could trip, so on the tea issue I figured, "hey, why not?"

what the fuck? they let you grow shrooms at school???!!? i live in Washington too and i know theyd like.. uh... do something..
umm, they don't let me grow shrooms, they just don't know about it. Keep in mind when I say school, I mean college, not having some shrooms groing in your high school locker. No one ever searches rooms or anything and growing mushies isn't hard to hide if your doing a small scale opperation.
