Ya know what's liberating?

Packing your suitcase in the morning to visit your in-laws interstate for a few weeks and making sure that you, your husband and two kids have enough shirts, pants, jackets, underwear. Then packing enough toiletries. Then packing the extras such as books, the laptop for remote work, the presents, and all that other stuff.

The liberating part is packing no shoes, socks, sandals, or any footwear because you know that you don't need em.

I'm guessing you are driving and not flying.

I'd be packing at least a pair of flip flops in case of an emergency on the road. You never know what kind of stuff could be strewn on a roadside.

 

exactly..., I am now not even owning viable footwear. either broken, or my feet don't fit in anymore

 

I dunno...goin' travelin' barefoot is pretty awesome, but I also like goin' commando. Let the boys have a vacation too!

 

Travelling barefoot especially to other cities or counties is very satisfying and liberating indeed. Knowing I have no choice but to out barefoot.
