To have been around in the 60's (at my current age) would mean that I'd have grown up in the 30's. No thanks. I am who I am in large part because of the time period that I grew up in. Who knows what paths my life would have taken and what mindset I'd have. Yes I was alive in the 60's but too damned young to appreciate what was going on. Make me a teenager during the 60's and I'd have been scared shitless about being drafted and butting heads with an older generation who believed devoutly in the infallibilty of the US military.
i would like to have lived in the 50's... those were the cool years Just let me hear some of that rock and roll music Any old way you choose it It's got a back beat, you can't lose it, Any old time you use it It's gotta be rock roll music If you wanna dance with me If you wanna dance with me I've got no kick against modern jazz Unless they try to play it too darn fast And change the beauty of the melody Until they sound just like a symphony I took my loved one over 'cross the tracks So she can hear my man a'wail a sax I must admit they have a rockin' band Man, they were goin' like a hurricane That's why I go for that that rock and roll music Any old way you choose it It's got a back beat, you can't lost it, Any old time you use it It's gotta be rock roll music If you wanna dance with me If you wanna dance with me
why the hell do people fantasize so much about being in the 60's? from what I can tell from what a lot of old hippys have told me is that it's better now then it was then, its just a time man, its gone, not gonna come back, let it rest, focus on whats now and appreciate it for it is. if I could go back to a time I'd want to go back and live in Woodland California, circa 1922.
if I could go back to a time I'd want to go back and live in Woodland California, circa 1922. There was nothing fantastic for being there at all. you can find places like that in Canada or Alaska today. or go in Brazil jungle.
Sila: I appologize I did mis-read it. O_O Stupid sleep dep. Please accept my humbelist appology and a bong toke (or beer or whatever your into) on me.
@Mojorising: Today I thought abot it, too. And I must say there is something missing today... The difference is that there are so few similar minded people. If you live in a hippy way today, you are a bit alone. There are still some people with hippy-ideals around here. They are all much older than me and very sad about what's going on in our society today
Excuse my depressing post here, but today some colleges told me that I'm very very old fashoned and that all those hippie ideas are nonsense
Ghost... YOU..old fashioned..come on..forget about that..:& in a country like Switserland... if you do SOMETHING slightly different.. you are crazy..old fashioned??.. be glad that at age 24.. you have such hippie ideas.. never be dissapointed about hippies.. come on,Ghost..hey... Tiger
Back in the sixties we sometimes were wondering how the years after the millenium would be like ... but geez I guess I never had imagined this - sitting in front of a blinking magic apparatus, talking to thirteen and fourteen year old people who wonder how it was like back then (and finding this is not really about the difference of age or era). We live in the Now that we create. And looking on the sixties, too, is what you make of it -from the view of your own most colourful Now that you are living in the unique and wondrous experience that is yours right now. Potential is not bound to history (but creates it). Happy to live in the Now all the time
exactly.....if you continue to look back...you can't see where you are going...have to stay focused on what is ahead of you...not a time that is gone and behind you. Having lived in that time....they are just memories.....much like the dreams the younger ones have about the times....nothing more than memories.....can't dwell on something stationary in an ever moving world
If ideas like LOVE and PEACE and BE YOURSELF are old fashioned, what's the world gonna be in the future?? Your "up-to-date" brain washed friends, who like so much the "modernity" of hate and war, are unworth of your friendship!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I was alive, purely for the music. The Beatles, The Doors, The Byrds, The Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix....I could go on. I wish I could have experienced the music when it was new. **sighs** Oh well. We have great new music out today, so it's cool.
