The soul IS the human body. I beleive in the beauty and extreme complexity of the human mind, but there really is no soul apart from the body. Instead of using the word soul i'd rather say ''intellingence'' ''emotions'' ''consciousness'' ''inner beauty'' etc. etc. Taging a concept we don't understand with a word we think we understand is not likely to be the way the understanding...
It's fascinating how many people have such conviction in beliefs that have no basis is experiential reality, or even sophisticated conceptualization. Why disguise your fear of the unknown by adhering to a rigid belief system? It can only provide comfort for as long as you continue to sustain the illusion -- which by definition can't be forever. If your relationship to soul is bound by the conceptual realm, then you're absolutely right: we can't further our understanding through assigning a specific word to a specific concept. But the soul isn't a concept -- it's a phenomenon, and it has to be experienced in order to be understood. Travis
We are both guilty of having beliefs. Each and every human being is. However my belief is that there needs to be proof. Also, I see more fear and rigid belief into religion than into atheism, but maybe that's just me. Of course, but at least consider the possibility that the spiritual experiences that you experienced might have been created by your brain through intense meditation/prayer or whatever method. I'm not lessening the beauty of it, but your brain's still your body. Peace
Beliefs are only necessary prior to the attainment of direct perception. After walking into a room and turning on a light, do you require a belief to know that the room is illuminated? Religion and atheism are simply two sides of the same coin. Both arise due to an experience of separative existence, and both become irrelevent following the direct apprehension of the nature of reality. One realizes that what was initially considered the ending is in actuality just the beginning. Considerations still operate within the confines of the conceptual mind. At a certain point, one's perceptual horizons become broadened enough to distinguish between the awareness at the core of one's being and the mental projections that dominate the consciousness of most humans. Following this realization, there's no longer any question about what the body is: a vessel, no more and no less, who's existence and vitality is completely dependent upon the existence and connection with universal consciousness. Travis
A Soul is a spirit. It is what makes us us. The Soul is eternal, the body simply rots away into the soil. But lets go to some old translation. I am sure that Sould means grave. But I could be wrong.
Because evolved souls can see their past lives. And yet, they still exist even as the body passed away again and again. The actor doesn't die just because he changes his costume. x
The point I'm making is that if you label this property "soul" you explain nothing. You merely label the property "the aspect of our beings that makes the conscious decision to incarnate in human form and seek out experiences that will allow consciousness to merge with it" With the word soul. It explains absolutely nothing it is merely a exercise in word labeling. Eaxcept of course for the massive difference that quantum physics actually explains things. It allows us to make predictons and to build useful things. The "mumbo jumbo" of souls and what not does not actually explain a thing or allow us to make any useful predictions. It is therefore just a case of re-labeling problems with silly obscure phrases and words in order to give the illusion of wisdom. Without any predictive or explanitory powers all tal of souls, chakras, karma, gods and whatever is just so much hot air and nonsense. What do you mean by this? This explains nothing at all. What is "a plane of reality"? Why is the souls one different to this one? How is it different? What does this mean? What is it to "transend all manifestations of physicality"? Can you give examples of anything else that does this? Can you give examples of things that transend some physicality? Can you transend some physicality? Or is this transendence an all or nothing affair? What does it actually mean to "transend physicality"? I really don't know what it means to transend physicality? Everything that we know exists does so physically or is a property of physical components. There is no example of anything existing that "tansends the physical" whatever that means. So you are saying that there is an existant object "the soul" which has no physical component. This NEEDS and explanation because no other object ever observed has "no physical component" in fact physical components are a necessary set of properties FOR an object to exist. So the question remains HOW can an object exist WITHOUT any physical properties? How can and object be said to exist without the necessary properties for existence. Meaningless words again. I'm sorry but this explains precicely nothing. Its just mumbo jumbo. Explains nothing again. How? How is this different from actually talking to someone? What process is used for this communication? How? The only interactions ever observed have been physical? Interaction is an exclusivly physical phenomona based upon all the available evidence. You are saying souls are nonphsyical so HOW can they have the exclusivly physical property of interaction? If you are claiming that nonphysical things CAN interact then you will need to give me some examples of this happening. Ponder on the questions you have been asked. When you do so and if you are honest you will realise that your supsoed "answers" are in fact meaningless words with no explanatory power. In other words they are mumbo jumbo.
Nobody can ever tell you the truth about anything spiritually. It must be experienced directly, otherwise, it's just a hand-me-down mental concept. Become an evolved soul. See for yourself. Then you won't have to rely on the opinions of others. x
The soul, according to many religious and philosophical traditions, is the self-aware essence unique to a particular living being. In these traditions the soul is thought to incorporate the inner essence of each living being, and to be the true basis for sapience, rather than the brain or any other material or natural part of the biological organism. Some religions and philosophies on the other hand believe in the soul having a material component, and some have even tried to establish the weight of the soul. Souls are usually considered to be immortal and to exist prior to incarnation. The concept of the soul has strong links with notions of an afterlife, but opinions may vary wildly, even within a given religion, as to what may happen to the soul after the death of the body. It also shares as a PIE root of spirit. so in short no soul is perfect and that is because no being is perfect... but your spirit it's countpart is without sin until you place it there what I'm tryin to say is that most people have a good spirit but they are tainted by the surounds.
LOL, but don't take his word for it. Have your own borderline schizophrenic psychotic episode to convince your delusional self that your ego is larger than all rationally perceived time, matter and energy!!!
I'd like to say this post is ignorant, and not in a negative way on my part, but ignorance is the perfect word.
That sounds very sensible, but how did you came to this conclusion of evolved souls remembering past lives then if you don't mind me asking?
The whole point of any spiritual journey is to discover who or what you are. As this progresses, you will start seeing all the things that make you...you. This includes all the many lifetimes that shaped you into who you are today. Everything you've ever had an attachment for presents itself for your review. By the time you reach this point, the current list should be very short. The ancients wrote about such things, but until you actually experience it, they're just words on paper. I first read about it many years ago. Now I have experiences of my own to write about. x
I think soul is a pretty mis leading word to use. It has lots of meanings, even people that I know who aren't religious or spiritual, just plain regular people believe in a soul, if I ask them what it is they'd say something like 'I'm not sure, just this feeling inside of me.' I think soul is a pretty vague word, as it doesn't really describe anything so it's open to interpretation. If i'm to believe that the soul is another word for self awareness/consciousness, then i believe it's not necessary to use the word soul because self awareness describes itself, unlike soul which can be used for many things. I decided to abandon many complicated words and terms for things that I was trying to understand on my journey, stripping away all of the baggage and looking soley to myself for the answers yielded results not possible had I not become fully aware of this.
I ask you who is more ignorant, one who believes his ego fits inside his head or one who believes his ego spans all time and space? Don't worry about it, I will forgive your ignorance this time!
If you believe that Quantum Physics actually explains things, then you haven't studied much Quantum Physics. In its current state, it is almost entirely theoretical. Additionally, there is very little consensus amongst its practitioners with regard to a multitude of topics including, the unified field theory, the cosmic string theory, and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, to name but a few. The "mumbo jumbo" that accompanies discussion of metaphysical phenomena isn't intended to be an end unto itself. It is intended to provoke further investigation into the nature of the phenomena being discussed, phenomena that like I and several others on this thread have already pointed out, can only be fully understood on an experiential level. It transcends temporal awareness. Tao. Love. Spirit. Conscious awareness. Transcending physicality would mean establishing an attunement with the aspect of your being that has no physical manifestation. Why don't you learn to commune with souls shamanically and find out? Your posts are so full of assumptions, I don't really know where to even begin to address them. To put it broadly, all of your assertions are based upon the limited knowledge that one can gain through reliance upon one's physical senses. The "necessary properties for existence" are much more abstract than your capacity to conceive of them is. If you're unwilling to overcome your dependency on the conceptual mind, then yes, the explanatory power of my words is indeed quite limited. Travis
