Im writing a story at the moment set in the year 2500+ its pretty much about three teenagers trying to find themselves in this Newage full of dangers. Their EX-leader is a vitrolic, spitefull person who is out to get them after they ditched her and 'left her for dead'. Aliens have become to come to the earth, killing off whatever original animal-life there was, and the three teenagers have to try and get to the 'place of story', a succluded place where allmost nothing can get in, and apparently no one has ever found. On the way they encounter kidnapping, near death experiences, visions and more.. Im stuck at the moment at what I could add to it, and how I could write it out. any ideas for a writer with a writersblock?
I once heard a writer say that the best way to cure writer's block is to just get out the stuff that's bugging you. That is to say FIND what's wrong, write it down, then just continue. As for writing this whooe thing out, start with pen and paper. It's the best.
Add to it? I dunno, it sounds like you've got a pretty good story there. And to write it out, that's all about personal prefrence. I like to write long hand, but it's more effecient to type it on Word or whatever. Have you begun it yet? If not, start with an outline. A detailed outline, if you like. And you can leave the end blank while you don't have one. If this story's meant to be, it'll come to you. If not, well... I have a junkyard full of dead 'uns.
thanking you, gonna print out when I have and start writing out most of it on paper. im better with that. On Word it gets too confusing.
For many months...my mind has Been Blank... And Even though I Have so many Ideas of many Stories I'd Like to Write... I Just Can't Seem to get in With the Flow of the Story... Does Anyone Have any Suggestions on How to get my muse Back? This is Really Depressing me...
you can try the simple visualization of meeting with your muse.... visualize a setting conducive for talking with your muse - could be a place out in a meadow or forest, or a cozy room.......sit down, and invite your muse to come and sit with you. if you've not already pissed your muse off, hehe (doubtful), they will appear - you can ask what the problem is, or what you can do to restore that relationship/connection you can also ask that your muse appear to you in dreams, just before you fall asleep hope this is of some help to you
You can write without your muse. Its simple. Step #1: Sit down with a pen and paper. It must be a pen and paper because it is too easy to get distracted on a computer. Step#2: Write a line. It doesn't matter what its about just write one. I'll even help you out, look out a window and write a line about the first thing that you see. Step#3: Now write another line, repeat this process until you have a bunch of lines. Now you should have something, even if it is a paragraph you still have something. It may be a work of art or it may be the biggest peice of crap but you still wrote. Whatever you do, do not throw this out. Keep it some where because you may need it down the road. Trust me on this one, the best stories can be fleshed out from the most vile peice of shit writing. Just remember you have to write everyday, even if its a rant about writing. Just get something down on paper. Muses are so over-rated.
Thank you Very much for Your Suggestions... It Seems I Have Difficulty Getting Started...And Can Not get Past the First Hurdle... I Shall try Joe's Suggestion About writting on Paper... As the Gentle Hum of the PC Knocks me Out of Concentration... So maybe Complete Silence will Help me... And Psychedelic Goddess...My muse Does Appear Every Night in my Dreams... It's Just the Concentrating...Getting it Started...Is Where I Fail... I Lose Enthusiasm Pretty Quickly...I'm Easily Distracted... When There's a Point my Story Does Not Sound Right...I Uusally Give up All together... It Stresses me Out Getting my Ideas Together... I am Not Sure Why There is a Difficulty...
Just keep on writing. This has always worked for me. Whether I am 'inspired' or not, I just write whatever's on my head. Good kuck to you!
I find she comes and goes. When my band were recording our mini-album, I think I learned more about my creative process than ever. The deal we signed was for 8 tracks and we only had 4 that were well rehersed and a whole load of song ideas. You know what happened? I wrote like fuck! The band actually said "we don't care how good you think it is, save it - we can't deal with any more material" Then once the basics of each song was commited to tape, I could write any more. Nothing. For about 5 months I felt like I was going to explode, like a pressure cooker of creative energy and no outlet. The slate wasn't clean. Before I could hold about 2, 3 at a push, unfinished songs in my head and I was trying to hold 8. No wonder I couldn't fucking write. Now the album has been released do you know what's happened? I can't keep track of the songs I'm writing, there's just too many of them. So yeah - here's my advice: Clean the slate. But also that even if the slate is clean don't expect your Muse to be around. They come and go and when they're gone you've just got to do your best until you feel exhausted. For me that was about a line or less of shit lyrics and that was all I could manage. Don't get lazy but don't force it either. Much Love and good luck Sebbi
Wow...Thanks for that Sebbi... That was kind of Inspirational... I am Attempting to Get into the Habit of writting Again by Praticing on Some Fan Fiction...Such as Following Computer Game Storylines...Seems to be Working so Far...
i get all of these great story ideas and lyrics and poems and whatnot in my head, but then when i try putting them to paper, i just freeze up. does anyone have a away to combat this freezing up? alcohol seems to help alittle but i just cant seem to focus to well when im shit-faced. does anyone have some sort of mantra or something to clear your head and help the creative process?
how about if you start with this: I get all of these great story ideas and lyrics and poems and whatnot in my head, but then when i try putting them to paper, i just freeze up. and then just write about exactly why that happens. If you are a professional writer your problem could be serious and maybe you should buy a 50 ton bag of therapy from a therapist. However if you are just a ordinary everyday person with a few ideas then dont fret its you and about 5.99999 billion other people on this planet with the same problem
I had a block from Christmas until recently; I couldn't write anything. Only lately have I been coming out of the block, and have decided to start carrying a small notepad and pencil with me everywhere, seeming most of my inspiration comes when I'm not sitting at the computer, like I normally do.
I also find going into the garden and shouting "Och aye the Noo" at the top of my voice helps, but do that aboutr 10 times making it sound more desparate each time then change the words to "Kenya is full of lions" and do the same It works it really does
or another thing is to get some matches, about 500 of them and stick them in a pattern into the ground with the heads sticking up and placed about 1 or 2mm apart then when all 500 are planted light the first one - not good on a windy day then write about it either that or eat some real fart food like beans and when you need to fart, hold a match by your ass and light it as it comes out it wont help with the block but you will have fun while waiting for inspiration
Try this: Get 5 garlic cloves and place them under your matress for a month. Now, sleep in the opposite direction that you normally sleep in. Read a newspaper in public, but hold it upside down. If someone looks at you, give them a horrible stare back until they are obliged to look away. As you're walking down the street, wait until there's a few people around you, then jump yelling in the air, really sudden, as if you've been given an electric shock , and then say calmly: "What a great idea!" Repeat this scene often. Stand at the top of an escalator and ask people what is missing from their life as they try to get off. Do this for a month, then take the garlic, crush it, put it in a bottle, urinate in it, and leave it outside your neighbour's house with a little post-it note saying "Thank you for a lovely night". You will never have writer's block again.
