Yeah, I mean does anyone really behave any differently when the terror alert is raised? Not me, it's stupid. If Bush gets elected again, there probably will be more terror. Well, I'll be terrified. Did the terror alert go up during their convention at all I wonder, I doubt it, wouldn't want to take away any attention from the raving lunatics on the stage.
The "Terror Alert" in New York has been "Orange" since 9/11 and not changed. However, the GOP did their best to turn the city into a complete Police state. I was watching the news yesterday, and a reporter questioned moving peaceful demonstrators from one area and enforcing a "ban" on photograph taking in the area. The reporter told the cops that there was NO law against photo taking in that area (and members of the GOP were busily snapping shots and demonstrators were having their cameras taken away!) and the cop said "We don't care if it is against the law or not. We are not letting these people do it anyway." Sieg Heil!
Have you been here lately? Just because they only show protests on the news doesn't mean the entire city is under martial law. In fact, outside midtown the police are operating at a drastic reduction in number. It's the total opposite of a police state in Harlem and lower Manhattan. The only police state is the area immediately surrounding MSG, and 99% of the protests are peaceful and uninterrupted.
Wasn't this whole arguement just on a rerun of the Practice last week? The protests far far away from the convention, no one is paying any attention to anyway, no wonder they are not being interrupted, they aren't even being heard by the people who need to hear what the protestors are saying.
