Wow!! Obama hand symbol for unity is the same as the symbol Hitler used.

The Hitler-Obama comparison is ridiculous. The hand gesture is not taken from Hitler era politics and it does not come from wrestling.
It's a natural association.

You take two halves of a circle/diamond and you put it together: in this way you achieve a whole. It naturally symbolizes unity or togetherness as interpreted by a human mind. It's just a gesture with the hands, it does not need historical context.

People have been using hand gestures and interpreting them symbolically since we first achieved intellect ages ago.

 

Well 1-1-2-3-5-8.... While I agree with everything you said about the hand gesture thing it seems pretty obvious that the Obama detractors have NOT achieved intellect yet. Thus any little thing like this confuses them...it's much easier to babble about hand gestures than consider the need for policy change in our nation.

 

Just like the swastika, it's the context you use the symbol for rather than the symbolism itself.

The swastika used to be a symbol for Buddhism as well as a lot of religious sects in Tibet. It wasn't a symbol of evil, but rather a symbol of religious use. The Nazi's of Germany and Hitler's regime used it and gave much of the western world a bad view of the symbol.


I was just saying the same for the hand symbol. Just because Hitler used it, doesn't make Obama's campaign using it necessarily mean he's in league with Hitler. What does the symbolism mean is what you should look at more-so than begin thinking something more sinister is going on.

The swastika, by the way, goes back way further than buddhism. It can be found on depictions of the throne of Apollo. It is a sign of harvest and life.

The Nazis reversed it to make their symbol.

 

Truth. There is a reason why Hitler chose to use symbols of peace in his campaign. This and the swastika are only a couple that he defiled. This is evidenced in that people look at such symbols as evil in remembrance of Hitler, when they have been used as symbols of good for hundreds if not thousands of years before Hitler. Some might compare this hand symbol to Hitler to others it is a symbol the represents a cycle of energy and life. Why create your own symbols when thousands already exist? This same tactic was used by Catholics to demonize pagan symbols like the pentagram. This tactic was vital in the propagation of his message and it obviously worked.

To the OP and others; The fact that you look at such things and immediately cry foul, only shows your ignorance of history.
