Of course not. But it ties in with the no trash talking rule. Most companies will fire you for that whether its on the job or online, I don't see the big deal about that part of it.
I personally have a problem with the no trash talking policy. What I do on my own time, what I say on my own time, is no business of the company. If I am off the clock, it does not matter what I say about the company.
http://www.dilanchian.com.au/index....=6:corporate-and-business-dealings&Itemid=148 http://www.11kbw.com/articles/docs/Acceptanceofrepudiationandemploymentcontracts.pdf Reading my Facebook account? It might be a little stifling. So no.
I think it depends on who is exposed to your trash talk. If there's a possibility of it hurting business then I think they should have the right to fire you. I guess I peraonally don't see a problem with it mainly because I'm not going to work for a company if I have a reason to talk shit about them.
Log-in info? I thought it was about 'befriending' them, so they can see what you post. This is ridiculous, I wouldn't give them my password either... And good one about posting every single detail on FB... That's ridiculous too. Whenever I read stuff like that on FB i think 'who the hell cares?'
No, I wouldn't. I dont trash talk my current/past employers via social networks anyhow. If I were desperate for a job, and my child's well being was contingent upon this job, then I would.
My profile is private. most profiles are private so employers can't see anything but your profile picture anyways, right?
Really? Well I know tons of people who do that lol, so I didn't get the sarcasm cause it's shockingly true for many people. Quite sad...
I know a few that share far too much. It might be a tad ott to say every single detail, including: address, blood type, medical and sexual history. But yeah, far too much. TMI. The way some people talk about it around here every single waking moment is documented - even if that just consists of a few pictures, and a comment: I had a really nice time on holiday.
maybe it was, i don't know. i do remember a little while back there was some controversy around certain companies actually asking for your password though. and yeah, i was making fun of the people on hipforums who make the argument that facebook is bad because if you have an account everyone in the world knows every single thing about you, as though it's not possible to use the site responsibly.
Oh, I see, I guess I haven't read those threads then . But yeah, of course FB can be used responsibly.
I would sign whatever and then say whatever I wanted, except for Facebook. Like a few of you have said, I would be willing to work almost anywhere that would hire me and I could physically perform the work - except for 3rd shift. That is my line...3rd shift. Facebook is the only site where I'm listed under my name. I have so many family and r/l people as "friends" on there, I literally NEVER say anything on there I wouldn't stand up and say in church or court (or is there a difference?).
It is fairly standard within most industries to have not only contracts but a thorough background check on prospective employees. To search social sites is far more common than most people are aware of. While you may have your settings on private, you are still going to be found in most searches. Employers hire firms to do just that. You may also want to consider the social sites of your references, acquaintances and past employers.
