Would you ever dob in someone if it was about a burglary, a serious assault on an old man walking home intoxicated from the pub, or an unsolved murder?

It would depend on the crime.

"Dob"; the word I think you meant was "bud", not rob.

i am unfamiliar with the term "dob".
i have indeed notified and summond officers of the law, in the instance of an ongoing physical assault. had i possessed the physical capacities and skills to have intervened myself, i would most likely have. but it was such a situation in the context of which, i did not feel i had the capacity to do so.
