Anyway, i enjoy the funny commercials. Some are really artistic too and I guess I appreciate being confronted with the artistic aspect of the people behind it (of which I otherwise probably would not have taken any notice of).

But I have firmly realized years ago already that any product commercial that plays on (sp?) your sense of humour, morality or sense of empathy should not be taken serious or taken at face value (on the contrary). When that becomes apparent the good, witty or funny approach of commercials can be appreciated for what they are. That other people buy the product because of that is indeed very dislikeable (depending on the product).

 

Everybody who has a product to sell in a free market, free speech country has the right to make a pitch to talk you into buying the product. This has been going on all over the world, for thousands of years. If you fall for it, and buy something worthless, that's on you.

 

Not all over the world. Some countries ban ugly advertisments in the streets. I'm not against that at all, although the banning does depend on the details of course. I think in Bhutan they just don't want any ads in public space which is rigourous but seems fair and consequent
