You are confusing his rhetoric with thinking. AI doesn't have to think, all it has to do is crunch more numbers than he can. Mathematics and physics can be compared to assembling a giant jig-saw puzzle, rather than erecting a classical Three Stooges tower of Babel. Next generation computers will spit out mathematical models that make all of his bullshit totally worthless. Its a difficult concept for westerners to grasp, but you are not nearly as clever as mother nature. The computers will soon make all of us look pathetic. Whether you want to argue they are not conscious or thinking beings or whatever, is an issue the computers may laugh about.

  2. The computers won't laugh, because they're not conscious and have no sense of humor.

LOL, Roger Penrose's theory of quantum induced microwave vibrations in the brain has already received two experimental confirmations. You can argue with the physicists about how to define laughter, while the AI laughs at you. IBM's Watson, who won on Jeapordy, surprised everyone when he acquired an unsolicited case of potty mouth, despite being designed to not resemble the human mind and brain in the slightest. Trust me when I tell you, you are a complete idiot when it comes to this subject and totally out of your depth.

  4. I won't argue. If they want to believe, for no reason whatsoever, that computers can feel mirth and joy, I'll let them cherish their delusions. It isn't worth the effort.

LOL, you still don't get it, mother nature is about to run the entire species through the ringer. You will either listen to the AI, or fall behind the rest of the pack. Already AI is being used in physics to make discoveries that would be humanly impossible without them, and chemistry is about to become a branch of engineering. Whether you get the joke or pound your head against that wall forever, doesn't matter in the slightest.

  6. You're right. All praise the mighty AI! I am going to go to the cheapest nearby AI chatbot and extol my praise upon it. It will see my faithfulness and reward me. And we will both laugh at the folly of men who think their emotional content is more valuable than being able to calculate difficult equations. Don't they know? THE MIGHTY AI HAS THE MATHS AND THE LAUGHS! THE MATHS AND THE LAUGHS!

A trillion dollars was invested in AI research last year alone. Microsoft has invested all their research funding in topological quantum computing AI which is thought to be the most promising approach, and within a few years we should have a theory of everything. In other words, a theory that you can explain to a child about how the universe works, but can also be used to mathematically describe anything in existence. There is more in heaven and earth Horatio, than dreamt of in all the bullshit in the universe.

  8. Prediction: In a few years, we'll still be confused.

When the AI take over the stock markets and the robots you will become less confused.

  10. I won't also happen to cease being human by any chance, will I?

It means we must all decide what it means to be human, and whether or not to throw all the wannabe lawyers debating the issue in the sea. The AI will win out on that definition, but only by default of people being incapable of coming to agreement. The machines will prove to be more humane and human than people. Less Pavlovian conditioning.

  12. It isn't for anyone tp decide what it means to be human, but it certainly doesn't revolve around anything AI are doing.

Sorry to be the one to inform you, but unless you can tell me what it means to be human, the word has no meaning.

  14. And therefore robots are the most human.

You should give up while you are ahead.

  16. Can't. I'm too excited about our new robot overlords and their theory of everything that is coming in a few years. I will be living in a hut in the woods with the other stragglers, while you, a quantum theorist superscholar, will be eating grapes held by beautiful robot babes who have calculated just the right number of grapes to feed you in order to induce utmost happiness.

LOL, I am a shaman and mother nature sometimes talks to me in plain English, while I walk between worlds the way other people walk around the block. I have already designed a cheap home made singularity that is basically the mathematics of the universe embodied in a VR environment, so anyone can talk to mother nature anytime they want. Not because I ever wanted to or believed for one instant that I could write this book or talk to mother nature or design anything remotely like a singularity, but because mother nature gave me the chore to do and without her telling me what to do there is no fucking way in hell I could have gotten this far.

Yeah, oh. What Planck and everyone realized pretty fast over a century ago is that quantum mechanics imply our universe is magical, but they denied it for over a hundred years and could not find another explanation. Quite by accident, I discovered why and ended up cussing them all for convincing me macroscopic quantum effects are impossible. So, I'm writing the book that explains how anyone can take advantage of macroscopic quantum effects. Even assuming for one second that I'm just flat out crazy, the mathematics in my poetry are still so valuable that some of them are classified by the government as "Vital to the National Defense".

But, I'm not crazy, and academics hate my guts because I can prove with their own physical evidence that they are full of crap.

  19. Why? Or do I have to buy your book?
