Go for the schooling. 200 grand is a nice chunk of cash and with a degree under you belt you will have a great start on life. 4 years of collage will go by before you know it and you might even enjoy it. And while its true that money does not by happiness it sure makes it alot easier to find.;) And weed like a old friend, is never to far away when your schooling is done

Dude, it's your own life. Don't let your aunt plan your life out for you.

And besides, you only get to be 17 once. Go smoke a bowl and enjoy your teenage years.

Dude, It's your own life. Don't let strangers on the internet plan your life out for you.
And besides, you only get to be 17 once. Go and take advantage of opportunities that may not come around again.

^^ ultimately he will make his own decision, don't let either side of this discussion make it for you. just do what will make you happiest. in my view, a middle ground seems like the best option. you can do well in school *and* smoke pot. that's what I'm doin. money *is* just money... and in a decade when our "economy" (casino) collapses, it won't buy you shit

Such wise words from someone who doesn't have to buy their own food, pay their own rent/mortgage, and most likely has no responsibilities outside of school.
It is very easy to have that attitude when someone else is paying your way.

PB is right, though he may sound like an asshole (no offence PB :p) he speaks the truth

once you live on your own and are totally independent, you really realize how fucking easy you had it made for you growing up. i know it sucks, and it shouldnt be this way but you NEED money to even survive... just to fucking exist it costs money. i mean its just the way things are.

i mean this is a fucking HUGE opportunity you have in front of you OP, if your aunt is really considering giving you $200k to go to school and stay off drugs. to be totally honest i think its an asshole move, i would NEVER take a family members life savings in exchange for me simply to stop doing drugs... thats like robbery. but if its for real, it also shows how much she loves you, shes willing to take 200 grand, probably a huge percentage of her life savings and give it alll away when she dies just to you... just to keep you from having drug problems down the road. and youd get to go to college which is a PRIVELAGE and when you mature a little i think you'll realize that.

do what you will man, i just hope you honestly realize what you have in front of you right now, and can be mature enough to make a decision.

None taken, I know I can be an asshole in the way I say things, doesn't alter the validity of what I'm saying.
To the OP and others that opinion that he should say fuck school and party.
Try looking through the job listings ANYWHERE and see just how many jobs require or prefer at least a Bachelors degree, whether the job really needs one or not!
If you want to do something more than fling burgers or mop floors you need that fucking diploma.

If you think I am just being an asshole again, try finding decent work with a promising future without a college degree.

I have been passed over for jobs in which I have 15 years experience in favor of someone with 0 experience and a Bachelors degree, and the degree didn't even relate to the occupation.

There are so many fucking people looking for work now, and will be for the foreseeable future, that every bit helps to make you stand out from the crowd.
Chances are your resume won't even get looked at without a degree or some type of secondary education/training certification.

May not be paradise or shangri la, but it is reality.
