I think you missed what I was trying to say. I'm not referring to voting in these posts and character related to it. I was referring to the regular posts condemning everything Trump and his supporters while not mentioning Biden and his shortcomings. Why did I vote for Trump? I'm not a fan of Trump as a person, but I do support his political policies. I also believe him to be vastly superior to any Democrat that has ran for the Office of President in many years. I would love to vote for the perfect Canidate, both the person and the politics. That is a very rare combination, so I voted for who I thought the best President would be.
I took it to mean overall, not just on this forum, let alone on this thread. Same could be said for most Republicans that don't call out the shortcomings of trump. I don't see very many trying to hold him accountable for all the wrong things he has done. But let's be clear here, it really is like comparing apples to oranges. We could compare Biden and Bush and judge them on the same scale but what totally blows my mind is that Trump is a whole different beast and has no business being a politician let alone the leader of our country yet you still back him. Which policies do you support specifically? I do not believe that Trump is "vastly superior" to anyone...ever. I don't know how anyone could use those words to describe him in any sphere but I am very curious to find out the reasons you think he is. You could always choose not to vote or vote for a third party that might better align with your values. If it were just about any other Republican, I could maybe understand but Trump is so abhorrent I just don't understand how you don't see it...but I guess that's the thing that bothers me the most, I think you do see it and you just don't care. I am not religious but I saw a comment on a video on Tiktok the other day (I might butcher it a bit but it went something like this) The video had been playing a podcast where some trump voters were talking about how they regretted their votes because they see what he is doing and finally realized that he had been lying during his campaign, the commenter said that while talking to their father they asked him why he voted for trump and he said, "The economy," she responded with, "So like Judas sold out Jesus for silver, you traded my rights away for cheaper groceries?" Do we need change in this country? Absolutely! Do I trust any of the politicians in office, Democrats or Republicans? No. Do I think we spend way too much on things that we shouldn't? Yes. I think all the politicians are bought and paid for by big corporations and none of them have our best interests at heart and we as a united people need to make sure they are all held accountable and a good bit of them need to be removed completely from office. I see that you might feel that way as well but then how can you justify Elon Musk, who stands to benefit the most from all of this, being the one to "audit" our government. Do you have any idea how much he gets from our government? Our tax dollars? And now he is forcibly taking over offices of departments the American people depend on, locking out elected officials and vetted government employees while he has no security clearance, no right to actually be there, and everything he is doing is highly illegal. This isn't just cutting off aid to other countries or reducing excessive spending, this is gutting our country, we are losing all safeguards for our rights, our environment, our very lives in some cases. We need change but not like this. Trump is not the answer and never has been, he is a disaster. He is worse this time around because he has Elon and others backing him, they are not on the side of the American people and never have been, they are a huge part of what is wrong with this country and I don't know why you fight so hard to defend people that are not worthy of your loyalty.
I mean, this is more of a list of drag queen related news. The articles in this list are coming across pro drag queen and anti bigotry. To inflict is to force someone to endure something traumatic. I'm not seeing that in the examples provided. I've never heard of anything like that happening. "Inflict" seems like language used by mortified bigoted parents than it sounds like anything a child would say.
Maybe he could start with trumps new secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, he just requested $137,000 of taxpayer money to redecorate the government funded house he was given to live in, $50,000 of which is designated for an "emergency paint job". Is that where you want your taxes to go?
@Lee Stern Just out of curiosity, do you make more than $360,000 a year? If you don't then you won't be benefiting from trumps tax "cuts" because they only apply to the wealthy, the rest of us will be paying more so they can pay less. But you probably knew that already, maybe you saw it on Fox News? Here is the break down just incase you want to re-examine the information.
He was talking about being worried where his taxes are going, old or not, it is still relevant since his plan hasn't changed.
As you pointed out...somewhere. The MAGA crowd has no problem exposing impressionable kids in public schools with their version of ancient religious myths...and bigotry...and misogyny, etc....or have them pose with a convicted felon and sexual predator....but have someone read children stories while in drag and they want to hang the poor guy. Public schools can only present what has been approved by the local board of education and accepted curriculum. Apparently the examples you provided were an attempt to illustrate that...."exposing children to diverse gender identities and expressions supports their natural development. Further, it fosters inclusive and accepting communities and school environments, which is fundamental for developing well-adjusted adults." (From your second link). But of course as I have pointed out much of our society is homophobic, and any attempt to show that "drag queens" are real people who exist and present to danger is like explaining to school children that the Bible is only one view of reality among many others. MAGA doesn't like anyone or thing that includes other views or others that are different from them. Yes, the MAGA parents think they have more educational expertise than the professionals. And they have more expertise than the scientists, doctors, generals, etc. I don't know what trigger warnings are. No, she was playing a boy who refuses to grow up and who leads a group of fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and "lost boys"; and he is attempting to corrupt young boys and girls by encouraging them to reject the norms and responsibilities of society. Velvet Brown is a 12 year old girl who fights against the norms of society by dressing as a jockey in an all male excursive profession in order to enter a race from which females are excluded. If the MAGA crowd realized this aspect of the story I'm sure they would be appalled. Yes, I agree. And this is the crux of the issue. The Democrats are socially and culturally advanced compared to the MAGA crowd. They are promoting the Enlightenment, the philosophy that this country was founded on, to those who are still socially entrenchment in mid evil religious nonsense. It's a very similar situation to the attempt to end slavery. Half of the country sees all men as equal, half don't. So the question arises, should the Democrats abandon their moral and ethical standards to get votes?? Should we sacrifice gays, women, atheists, immigrates, etc. today so some of our members get elected to public office hoping that eventually society will grow up? The difference is the Constitution explicitly separates religious proselytizing from governmental enterprises, such as public schools. It does not prohibit the inclusion of those who hold different views or dress differently from societal norms from governmental enterprises, such as public schools.
So the ten commandments are bad? preferable to drag queens? So just so we are clear Divine is/was a drag queen, it also literally ate shit in Pink Flamingos. so, it's better to have that in schools then the ten commandments? Yes it's an extreme example but why not?
To the OP: It's a little childish to think it matters who's the worst President. Nothing can be changed. That said, the question gives the opportunity to make a point. To support a president is one thing. To oppose a president is one thing. To abstain and 'not get involved' or not to 'take a side' is one thing. Abstaining is actually taking a side and doesn't absolve such a person from responsibility. Those who abstained in the recent election permitted the result to be as it is. I expect some will come to wish they had voted. Some who voted will wish they voted differently. However, by then, it will be too late to avoid or to escape the pain. Just sayin'.
So, I never said the Ten Commandments are bad. They are "religious and ethical directives". Note the word "religious". Religious directives sanctioned by the government are prohibited by the First Amendment. Divine is one drag queen. So what? We are not talking about Divine, we are talking about ignoring the separation of church and state, not a movie. Comparing everyone who cross dresses to one bad example is guilt by association. I could say the same thing about Julio César Grassi.
Sure. First it depends on which version you are talking about. Let's take the abbreviated Protestant version as that's the one that MAGA usually wants to hang in classrooms: You shall have no other gods but me. You shall not make unto you any graven images. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. You shall remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. Honor your mother and father. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor. I have issues with number one as it refers to numerous gods and by extension religions; and commands me to "have" only the Christian God. Number two is also religious. Let's look at it in dept. Clearly religious. It commands singular worship of a singular religious Christian God and forbids me from even making a statue of some other God, like oh, Zeus. Three, another religious command. I can't saw Jesus H. F--k? What happened to free speech? Four, religious. I have to worship this Christian God one day every week. The rest are okay, but can be stated in a secular way.
Cross dressing and drag queen are two related but different ideologies: Cross-dressing and drag are related but distinct concepts: transaware.net+3 Cross-dressing typically involves wearing clothing associated with the opposite gender for personal comfort or expression. Drag queens, on the other hand, use exaggerated attire, makeup, and performances to entertain and showcase creativity to an audience.
no you did not I was just asking the question to clarify, you did say that " ancient religious myths...and bigotry...and misogyny," and gave the ten commandments as an example.
