I don;t think it is rare, I have it and love it! and it is one of the few popular floyd t shirts....so it can;t be too rare...unless people are walking around with shirts that they have no idea what it means....thats probably the case =D
no one said that it is rare......... if anything is rare, its the more movie people probably didnt mention it because there are much worse floyd albums out there than more. besides, more was written for a movie...... as was obscured by clouds, so the creativity wasnt there....... nor did they care.... its just a movie soundtrack....... I would say more is still in the top 10 floyd albums..... its better than division bell, ummagumma studio, and a momentary lapse of reason..... I dont think you can properly put live albums in the list of best or worst albums....... it was recorded live, not in a studio..... so, naming delicate sounds of thunder is quite silly, for its a live album
final cut, momentary lapse of reason, division bell - all that later stuff is almost impossible for me to listen to.....lol, i'd rather hear oysterhead cover "animals"!
I despise: 'Dark Side Of the Moon' because it was sub-consciously pre-determined to be a mammoth success so It was designed/recorded with this £££ money-spinning thought behind it.It is also blantantly 'Sgt.Pepper' concepty, even with a 'reprise' bit of 'Time'.The fact that it was recorded at EMI Abbey Road studios is also a bit cheesy & "we can't go wrong with this one lads". A previous poster mentioned 'Soundtrack from the film:'More'as her favourite Floyd album & I would choose that one myself as the Best Pink Floyd album.
More is in the top 10? I have to strongly disagree. Besides "green is the color" I don't feel that any of the other songs really stand out. I think the divison bell is way better. More has no deep jams, which is what I enjoy most about pink floyd's music.
if you're looking for deep jams listen to any of the concerts pre DSOTM(not that I dislike dsotm) they would use the same few songs in the concerts and play the world out fo them...atom heart mother(with or whith a chorus) careful with that axe eugene, the embryo(wow what an amazing song) then jam on some blues that was based on the second half of the song free four, play some stuff from saucerful of secrets, and that was it....what amazing stuff!
i have the wall, dsotm, animals, wywh and a monentary lapse of reason, and out of the those lapse is definitly the worse. from what ive heard of it, the division bell sucks too
i cant say that final cut is the worst because its still floyd and i still like it, however it is deffinatly my least favorite album from pink floyd
well, they only put out around 13 albums, so its gotta be in the top 10, probably 10th, but still it is........ the division bell, momentary lapse of reason and the ummagumma studio album are just poor! how can you not like the nile song or cirrus minor or cymballine on more?
Ok, you got me there. I do like cymballine and cyrus minor. I agree though that the ummagumma studio album is hard to listen to, but I still like the division bell.:guitar: Marooned is the song that does it for me. (I also wanted an excuse to use the guitar smiley face)
wtf? what's wrong with ummagumma studio? that thing grooves! "several species" alone is worth the price of admission! but i'm one of those people that dig "atom heart mother", too
i love umagumma studio too...so i dunno ive never met a floyd fan that cant appreciate the atom heart mother, sorry i didnt make that one post
ummagumma isnt that great. it does have its moments though, with dave gilmour's a narrow way, and possibly roger's grantchester meadows...... the rest of that album is crap. atom heart mother has its moments as well, but I cant stand the "alan's psychedelic breakfast".
and jimmydean......... now you have met a floyd fan who cannot appreciate atom heart mother. I have every floyd album on earth on cd and vinyl, lots of bootlegs, tons of memorabilia..... and I dont find atom heart mother that captivating... it just seemed rushed in the studio. the suite is good, but the overlaying of brass kind of ruins it...... same with summer 68. awesome song, but the brass destroys such a good song. fat old sun sounds much better live...... actually, when they played atom heart mother suite and fat old sun live, it was leagues better than the album versions.... I guarantee you that no floyd member actually appreciates that album. I know for one, dave gilmour hated it.
yeah, I think marooned is the best song on the album... if I remember correctly, they won a grammy for best rock instrumental for that song.... I do give the division bell credit though, it is better than a momentary lapse of reason
lol, i love alan's psychedelic breakfast!...i may have to send that mp3 over to the chick whose milk splashes all over her cornflakes (see random thoughts)
