Its called the entertainment business, they have been making movies about tragedies for years...there are hundreds of them. This movie doesn't seem that bad, its not propaganda from the looks of it, they dont say terrorists attack the world trade center and fill your mind with false facts to manipulate you.. I watched the trailer and was very surprised, you can tell that they tried to stay away from the political point of view and just honor the basic citizens that did there job for there own country, they were good people. Just remember the movie creators did not make 9/11, and they are not disrespecting the 9/11 families. Our U.S. government is responsible for 9/11 and they are the ones who killed thousands of there own fellow Americans for there own corporate greed, and crazy religious beliefs. They are the ones disrespecting the 9/11 families, and making BILLIONS of dollars WHILE taking away our freedom, and invading other countries. This movie simply honors the men and woman who died for someone elses advantage.
i dont watch movies about real tragedies, no matter how many there are. (i also dont watch movies about real serial killers, they shouldnt make movie stars out of criminals) i know they didnt make 9/11 happen, i know the gov is making the most money from it, but its still twisted to make a movie about this. (i bust on my sis for watching titanic too, and that happened over 90 yrs ago) im sorry, you can justify it until the cows come home, its still immoral. you want to remember the heros of 9/11? how about a donation drive? a benifit concert? a dedication? something that will actually help the families and survivors, not something that will pay for a movie star's swimming pool. have you heard anything about 'a portion of ticket sales will go to the families?' i haven't either. its just another hollywood 'must see movie of the year.' i dont need to go to the movies, i already saw it.
Underplay, thank you for realizing the truth and questioning 9/11. This is sick because the same people who did 9/11 are the ones funding these propaganda movies to be made. Remember Hitler made movies in Nazi Germany using regular Directors? When the money is flowing you don't give a shit who's paying if your a hollywood director, even Oliver Stone who we all thought was on our side...
you know whats weird? sept 11 was a gorgeous day...not a cloud in the sky, perfect temperature. everybody imaginde terrible things happening on gloomy, overcast days, but it was so nice out.
Has anyone here actually seen this movie? I am amazed at peoples reaction to this film. People (not just here) are compeltely missing the idea and story behind it. Democrats were crying because they thought this movie would make people remember the tragedy of 9/11 and the importance of combating terrorism. This movie may just as well been made about an earthquake, hurricane, or any natural disaster. It had absolutely nothing to with politics. I thought the movie was an excellent portrayal of survival and human spirit. Though not a typical Oliver film, I do not believe this film deserves the criticism it is receiving.
but they are taking advantage of those survivors to make money. if all, or even a portion of the ticket sales went to some sort of charity, it would be a different story. but the fact that these big rich actors are taking advantage of a tragedy to pay for another porche makes me sick.
Four 9/11 charities will be receiving 10% of profit made off of ticket sales of "World Trade Center" that are accrued during the first 5 days in the box office. While this is better than nothing, I would be more imressed to see a set 10% made through the entire length of time the movie is accruing profits. I have not heard whether any of the actors of the movie will be privately donating any of their proceeds (Nick Cage, etc...) It is only right and out of respect for the families of 9/11 victims to pay respect by donating profits. I think they could donate more.
I thought the movie was good and worth seeing. It honestly was not what I expected it to be though. I thought it would have more to do with the events of 9/11, but the majority of the movie was the three Port Authority officers that were trapped in the rubble. (Most of the movie was filmed from inside the rubble). It focused on what these three men, two being survivors, went through when be tested to the limit of human will. The remainder of the movie was what the family of these three men were going through before they knew the status of their husbands/fathers.
Like I had said in a previous post, there was absolutely no political angle in this movie. And I do not understand why some are even mentioning that there is (the only answer is that they have not seen it). Again, this survival story could just as well been made about an earthqauke or any natural disaster.
yes i heard it was supposed to be directed at the officers. i think i may watch it then... if its worth watching.
It wasn't about the heroes, it wasnt about remembering 911...it was about why we should go over and kill all the arabs and turn their country into a parking lot because "they" knocked down our towers, even know the evidence shows that it was white people with briefcases and suits who did 911.
Aye. If they tried doing something similar about 7/7 in Britain, there'd be hell to pay. It's fucking wrong, it's not about 9/11.. just about making money. I wouldn't waste me money on it. These sort of films make me cringe and anger me greatly.
