World peace?

pat-the middle east wouldnt hate the US so much if the US would leave them alone and quit trying to force their beliefs on everyone else sorry thats how i feel take it or leave it

 

How are we trying to put Our beliefs on them, when there the ones who have the religion of killing non Muslims to go to heaven with virgins. My family isnt over in the middle east to sit there and give them bible study, their there to stop terrorism, which is a huge freaking problem over there.

 

it can happen.everyone has to believe it can happen and then it will.creating a reality.

 

yeah thats why were changing their government and shit were molding them into a mini america(variety is the spice of life) but as i said before THAT IS HOW I FEEL TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT I was just giving and defending my opinion



I've had several friends go to the war and when they got back they said that they wish they had never joined the military and didn't want anything to do with the war because it was wrong


and before someone starts a rant about how im horribly defending my point im going to state that i don't care you have your opinion and i have mine

Yeah we should have left the middle east alone, so Saddam could keep killing innocent People every day and making Bombs while plotting on how to blow up America. People think the USA is killing tons of innocent people Saddam killed more and would have kept going for who knows how long. He was the next Hitler and we went and fought to stop him too.

 

its not that simple. they dont simply want us to stop forcing our beliefs on them. they think our beliefs are wrong and that they shouldnt exist.

my cousin is in afghanistan serving and the opposition there send kids out to be hit by the trucks in hopes that the trucks stop and they use it as an ambush oppurtunity. They aren't looking for peace anytime soon

 

Saddam made Bombs and tested them on his own people, he needed to be stopped. Now he is gone, but there is still people over there that are carrying on his beliefs against America. The War wont end until they are stopped.

 

Islam more or less states that their own conservative beliefs, should be the only beliefs. if we want peace with the middle east, then we would all have to conform to the Islam way of life. Thats what i believe anyway

just like in Vietnam they strapped women and children with guns and grenades,knowing we would have mercy and when we went to help the Mother and her child they would blow up our soldiers.

All we were saying is that these countries aren't as innocent as you seem to think and it isnt only the states that is anti world peace

Some food for thought... not all Muslims believe the whole "suicide+killing infidels=40 virgins in heaven" thing. There is a reason that the term extremist is used. Most religions have nonviolence as a major tenant, however some people are unfortunately able to manipulate the human tendency to fear "the other" and bring people to believe in a twisted version of those religions. Saying that all Christians, Muslims, and whatever elses are fucked up is like saying that everyone with dreadlocks is a stinky, dirty, tree hugging hippy... knowhatimean?

Trying to have a civil and intelligent conversation about this could be worthwhile and rewarding, but this topic will indeed be just another bullshit argument if we forget that our personal feelings are indeed our own... personal... feelings, and not "the truth."

 

Thats a good point, extremist muslims live their lives in such a conservative way, they dont really know anything outside what theyve been taught. Unfortunately thats how many of them would prefer for it to stay.

 

Oh wow i never said all Muslims, im not ignorant enough to think all Muslims and people from the middle east are terrorist who hate americans. Maybe i should have been more specific oh well.

 

What I see as the main problem with the way the Iraq war has turned out is that the motives were suspect from the beginning... To me it seems like Bush decided that the UN weren't going to get the job done and he was the only one who could. It is this kind of attitude that pisses most of the world off, and this country has a history of it. The United States are not the rest of the world's big brother. I have a friend who just got back from Madagascar where some of the people seriously thought that Obama is the president of America, meaning both northern and southern continents. Why might they have this impression? Partly because we have the arrogance to refer to ourselves as "Americans" and partly because of how we act like we have the right to step into issues that do not directly effect our territory.
I think we have the right to defend ourselves, but when defense becomes offense, one looses any hope of claiming a moral high ground.

 

Me as well, Its unbelievable sometimes how fast that happens in these forums....

 

there is no such thing as a perfect world.
sadly not all people can be united. i think its safe to say that the whole idea of world peace is just youthful idealism.

any kind of peace you can have is with yourself
