From my experiences, the work ethic is dead.

We have a roofing company and can't find anyone that wants to work. It's hard work, but like the medical profession, the trade will ALWAYS exist. Automation cannot replace human hands and minds that can figure out the myriad problems that exist in the many configurations of roofing. Pay is not bad--18 to 25 or 30 bucks an hour.

make everything a hobby. limit dicipline to where neccessary, and don't make it unfriendly.

lots of money, no time, lots of time, no money.
is it really freedom not to be able to balance these two things better?

sorry, i believe in a consideration ethic.
nothing wrong with productivity, or even better generosity,
but morality is consideration, in all things, of all things, and logic in the service of it.

i still believe everything that actually needs to be done, for everyone to be able to be fat and happy, would only take a fraction of the time and effort, people think they owe each other.
it still takes some, not to be a complete burden on others. but it really makes no sense beyond that, for anything you don't enjoy doing.

of course i wouldn't ever, don't ever, want to be unable to do the creative things my enjoyment in life comes from doing,
though there are a lot more of them, i'd be doing if i had the resources to do so.

my parents always used to say "i give up". never understood what the hell they were talking about. something to do with their ideologies or beliefs i guess.
