I know there has to be a lot that people here don't know about you; something that bonds you to Indiana. If I hated the place as much as you claim to, I would have moved out so long ago that I would have forgotten by now what the place looks like.
hmm, i wonder if you're mixing me up with someone else. for one, i'm from ohio, not indiana. and while i make fun of the state whenever possible, i don't think i've made any serious claims of hating it. you're right that there is a lot about me that i keep to myself on here. same with you i'm sure; we both know it's just not a good idea to share too much info on open forums like this.
Why torturous? I only ask because I've always liked the idea of owning my own pizza shop, but I've never made them on a commercial scale. Only delivered.
Males & females at my work place are provided with the same type of work uniform that I dislike as the material isn't a breathable type so what ever is worn underneath doesn't keep cool on hot days. I would prefer to wear shorts in the summer at work but trousers are only what we are supplied with all year around.
Since I'm the employer...I dress however the fuck I want...depends on the occasion tho. I might dress a little higher going to the bank than just business as usual
Border state, similar rep. I wasn't off by much. I just remember a lot of posts about how bad it is to live there.
eh, i'm sure it's a great job for some people. it's just a really horrible job for my personality type. for one thing, i like to work at my own pace (which is generally alternating between bursts of productivity, and slower periods of semi-recovery). in pizza, you don't have the option; the customers completely dictate what you are doing and when. also, there's a lot of kissing assholes' asses involved. plus, i like to wake up, go to work, and then have down time afterward. but pizza places generally get most of their business at night, so that's when you have to do most of your working. of course, it's made even worse if you work for a large company. then you have to deal with asinine rules that do nothing but hurt your production, and faking performance numbers that are physically impossible to hit legitimately. the only time i was really happy working in pizza management was when i was strictly the day manager. i got my down time at night, and since business is slower and most of the work is prepping for dinner, i was able to work more at my own pace. plus, i was able to actually do the prep for dinner, so when i did stay through the rush everything ran smoothly. another issue with pizza places is that they tend to have shitty workers who won't do anything on day shift, so if you come in at dinner time nothing is ready for you. recent posts? i lived in toledo a while back, which is one of the shittiest places in america as far as i can tell, and i'm sure i mentioned that on here. i've moved a few times since then though. the last two were great, and this place is pretty good too, at least during the summer. it's a unique area though, and i do make jokes about it. i wouldn't want to settle down here, but it's really not bad for the time being.
I should dress for work more often. I noticed that when I did dress for work I was more productive. I'm just a crappy person when the weather is cold. When I work on the computer I wear whatever I want, but I try to dress nice if I get dressed. I think if I force myself to make a video or take a picture every day I'll start dressing. When I work "out" I wear yoga clothing or hippie clothes. Thai pants, breezy, cottony, linen, bamboo, etc.
yeah, owning a local pizza shop would be a bitch. owning a chain is pretty nice though; just sit around collecting money while forcing all your store managers to do stupid shit that decreases revenue, then firing them because of the decreased revenue.
Were you fired from your pizza gig? On a side note, I'd love to own a Dunkin Doughnuts franchise. I don't have enough liquid assets to do so at this time though.
I wear what ever I want! If I feel like shorts and flip flops to weld and grind in or work around sharp metals with open toes, That's my business. If you don't like it, Fuck you! I'm the one taking chances. Thus why I work out of my garage during this depression. Ill open another shop someday but don't care to have people tell me what I can or have to wear, To me that's the same as a fucking monkey suit. I wear jeans, Shorts and shirts/sweatshirts during the seasons and I never dress up. I have one time in 32 years and don't plan on it again.
the first one, but i was doing the same job for a competitor within the week so it's not like i was being bitter about that or anything. what i described was very clearly the trend in two of the 3 companies i worked for though (the other was intentionally trying to lower sales so they could get corporate to sign off on closing some of their stores). i'm more bitter about some of the better managers i worked with getting fired because of upper management fuckups than myself.
I have to wear a Park Service uniform. That was the main upside to working for the Forest Service instead... no dress code at all. We pretty much all wore rags to work and no one cared. I will miss that...
since i own 2 and 1/2% of the company(i know it,s small) i wear what i want. but... carhart coat, bibs in the winter, shorts, and white tee in the summer.
