We estimate that 56% of the U.S. workforce holds a job that is compatible (at least partially) with remote work. We know that currently, only 3.6% of the employee workforce works at home half-time or more. Gallup data from 2016 shows that 43% of the workforce works at home at least some of the time. Our prediction is that the longer people are required to work at home, the greater the adoption we will see when the dust settles. Click here for statistics on the who, what, when, where of work-from-home pre-covid. We believe, based on historical trends, that those who were working remotely before the pandemic, will increase their frequency after they are allowed to return to their offices. For those who were new to remote work until the pandemic, we believe there will be a significant upswing in their adoption. Our best estimate is that we will see 25-30% of the workforce working at home on a multiple-days-a-week basis by the end of 2021, here’s why: Work-at-Home After Covid-19—Our Forecast - Global Workplace Analytics
I think possibly many people will get past that stage where it feels awkward not to have shoes on and get that opposite reaction of not liking to wear shoes at all. Darn virus is changing so much in the world. It really is kind of silly for people who do computer work to, get all dressed up and drive like 30 miles a day to sit in front of a computer in some office cubicle when the internet is everywhere now. Like what do I care if I have a question about my electric bill or health insurance if the person in crammed in some office looking up my bill or logged into the same system home in their panamas ?
With online meetings, the upper half is important. I just hope they remember to wear pants when they next venture outside!
One of the best benefits of working from home is getting to be barefoot all the time. This has strengthened my dislike of shoes and socks!
I have had a little fun in the comment section pointing out the the mask rebels (people who never rebelled against a damn thing in their lives) how since the 60s you can be thrown out of a store for now wearing shoes cause of the health code myth but now some nasty germ going around they cant cover their face with a simple cloth. The virus would be gone extinct already if they had the same success making everyone wear masks as they did with the BS health codes about wearing shoes. I still cant believe the mass of right vs left politics has grown to such epic proportions it has like its own gravitational field like a black hole to suck in and create a controversy about wearing a face mask in a pandemic. Did this political shit happen 100 years ago during the Spanish flu or did people unite to defeat a common enemy ? I dont even know what keywords to start with to try and research the question.
I think bare-footing is going to get a boost from this miserable virus thing. I was curious how they are doing the online learning with the schools all closed and one of the news reports on Youtube the camera showed for a second the whole family was barefoot. Guess people waking up barefoot and school and work is at home starting at the usual time, go put shoes and socks on, why ? Why is it going barefoot so acceptable in New Zealand wile the rest of the western countries its "no shoes no service" ? Culture - tradition and taboo gets so entrenched in societies. Its weird.
I just found this "And even as companies eye guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about safely returning, many employees never want to head back to the office. A survey by the Society for Human Resource Management found 52% of Americans would choose to work from home permanently given the option. Two-thirds of those who want to work permanently at home, said they would do so even if the U.S. reached herd immunity. " Headed back to the office? Corporate America is trying to decide when and how to bring employees back — if ever - CBS News Must have created more barefooters all this work from home. But its so silly and bad for the environment that rush hour traffic so people driving all that distance every day to connect to the same internet they have at home. Lets create this mess every day to go to an office and connect to the same internet we have at home ??? Insanity !!!!!!
