    Yes Candy darlin' that is very true - too poor to buy a pot for the (Donkey) urine to enable one to work in the leather tanning process.

    I thought the expression is,
    "How long is a piece of string?"
    meaning the answer to your question depends on many factors and therefore there is no straight answer.

    into British English? Maybe,
    "Something twigged with him."
