You just log into your livejournal account, and there's a drop down menu when your mouse hovers over the 'journal' tab at the top of the page. You just click on "post an entry" and then you specify if you want to post it to your journal, or a specific group (such as Get Up Dread Up). I hope this explains it okay. The wool tutorial I posted there was my first post ever over there, so I'm still new to it too :)

Gorgeous!!! I'm going to have to try that, next time I put more colors in my hair. I dyed over all my colors last weekend in preparing for a couple weddings. As soon as those are over I'm going to have to try tackling the art of felting little flowers mixed with swirls into my dreads :)

    Absolutely awesome!

Holy crap. These needles rock the Casbah.

I took one to a dread of mine that I was already rather happy with but had some loosy's going on and bam - it was a tight, loosey-free dread. Made me immediately go clean my hair and now I'm ready to sit down and tighten the crap outta things today.

I got a bit of wool to play with but I'm not going to even think about putting it in my head until I'm all tightened up. I did make an extension-like dread outta the wool though. Just didn't attach it to anything. I got some long-term planning to do for colour coordination.

    This is fun stuff.

    Wow, rly cool looking!

Your dreads are really nice, too, is there something you do to keep them looking so nice? Is there some technique involving a felting needle?

Thanks for the thumbs up on the tutorial :)

Osama Llama, I do use a felting needle on my dreads without wool in them as well..... I use the felting needle to tighten up any loose areas that my dreads might have, and it seems to work really well.

    Thanks

When tightening, is it normal for a lot of little one-strand loops to form as the needle is pushed in, somewhat like this?

Sorry it took so long to respond, Osama Llama.... I lost track of this thread, and just looked it up. It is normal.... that's why you have to rotate the dreadlock as you felt it, that way you get a uniform look to the dreadlock. If you continue to rotate the dread as you felt it, it will all get felted evenly, and you will not end up with as many little bumps and lumps from the felting needle. Also, if you are noticing lots of these little loopy things, you could try a felting needle in a different gauge. Felting needles come in different types, some are for coarser wools, etc. You might be using a felting needle not quite suited to the texture of human hair.
