Hello! I was hoping someone could help me with dyeing wool dreads with RIT. Is there anything special I need to know? Any links/videos to help me?
Also, this will be my first wool dread adventure so any tips would be appreciated! I'm a little lost on how to instal them in to my current dreads. Would single ended or double ended be best? I don't want them permanent just in as decoration Thanks so much!

    Are you using roving?
Are the dreads pre-shaped or are you dying the roving first?

If you are dying the wool before shaping the dreads, then don't use hot water. You don't want your wool to felt until the dreads are formed.

It is wool roving, undyed and un shaped
Tjanks! Thats common sense that I wouldn't have thought about lol.

Yeah...common sense....that's totally how I know how not to do that.
    *shifty eyes*

LOL Sad to say, I learned that lesson the hard way. As I was sloshing the wool around in very hot water, it hit me 'what the hell am I doing' and it ruined the wool for dreading.

I have none either! It seems like I have a bad case of Mom brain lol.
Did you have to temporarily instal them into real dreads? I can only find videos of people extending them into dreads or attaching them to a pony tail.

I make mine for costuming wigs and masks, so I don't install them into the real hair like most people would.

I'm fortunate enough to be rocking 6 years of my own locks. :)

This was the costume I was going for, when my red-dread experiment went all wrong.

6 years! Thats awesome! I still have little crazy, wild babies.
Was there a happy ending to the costume?

Not really. I hit so many snag on that costume.
It's always in the back of my head, waiting for a revival but if I do it, it will probably be an easier version.
