Actually, you can perceive the reality of the written text, certainly better than the delusions of a burnt out acid-head. But let’s get down to brass tacks. You spoke on your website about Dead Sea Scrolls, Gnosticism, Greek culture, and Christianity. You mention the pervasive influence of Greek culture on our society; very good. You understand there is a problem, but do not have the correct viewpoint to be objective in order to make sense of it all. Here’s the problem... First of all, the majority of the Dead Sea Scrolls were written in Hebrew by a very odd sect, the Qumran community. These people were sort of the Jehovah’s Witnesses of first century Judaism, way out there, and their writings are hardly considered halachic by any means, and that means non-authoritative. Gnosticism was a religious movement that hit its peak from the first through the fourth century. There were myriads of Gnostic sects, most who were Christian. Although their sects were different, they all believed in the same basic things, such as a transcendent view of God, a focus on religious rather than ethical beliefs, an “evil” demiurge or satan in control of the earth, a separation of the physical and spiritual, and a very strict dualism: light-vs.-darkness, spiritual vs. fleshy, etc. The early church in Jerusalem, the one headed by James and Peter, was originally nothing more than a Jewish sect. As the Hellenists gained control, especially after the destruction of the second temple, the Gnostic influence of their most prolific teacher, Paul, gained in popularity. Remember also that the New Testament is written in Greek, not Hebrew. Very different language, different concepts, etc. This had an effect on the the Gnostic theology developed by the church, which turned out to be the Gnostic sect that won the political power struggle. Make no mistake: Christianity is a Gnostic religion. Catholicism, Protestantism, Eastern Orthodox; they’re all Gnostic religions. As far as the Greek stuff, that has a lot to do with the Gnostic ideas of Christianity. Trying to figure out what is wrong with our culture using Christian interpretations simply doesn’t work. Ding! End of Round One.
I do not know how much of my website you have read? The point of the connections involving Joe Cocker singing those songs, is that drugs for enlightenment is bad for us. It isn't enlightenment at all. Drugs are an escape from reality, not a confronting of it. In the Damascus Rule(Document) For they sought smooth things and preferred illusions (Isa. 30; 10) and they watched for breaks (Isa. 30; 13) and chose the fair neck; and they justified the wicked and condemned the just, and they are they transgressed the Covenant and violated the Precept. The recent and on going Paris Hilton thing, is an example of the society's willingness to let the rich and famous get treated differently. I certainly have NO INTENTION of taking acid.
You really haven't brought anything that I do not already know. I have addressed a lot of this at my website. How thoroughly have you read it? I emphasize the significance of nonconformism at my website. There is one thing that the Qumran Sect, the Gnostics, the Plymouth Pilgrims, and Hippies all have in common, they are nonconformists. Nonconformists don't like to be told what to think and what to believe, so they seperate themselves from the rest of society. When they do this, they gain the freedom to seek and find the truth of things themselves. I contend that they have hit upon real truth. A portion of the Damascus Document, And God observed their deeds, that they sought Him with a whole heart, and He raised for them a Teacher of Righteousness to guide them in the way of His heart. I see the connections themselves as proof of this truth. There are those who will and do choose not to believe in the connections. The Damascus Document addresses these too, they are scoffers and For (already) in ancient times God visited their deeds and His anger was kindled against their works; for it is a people of no discernment (Isa. 27; 2), it is a nation void of counsel inasmuch as there is no discernment in them (Deut 32; 28).
umm...yeah, This passage has been taken completely out of context. Isaiah 30.10 doesn't condemn acid whatsoever. Isaiah 30 9 These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the LORD's instruction. 10 They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. The "deceitful children" are the ones condemning the visions, not the ones having the visions. When we take LSD, we ARE the seers. The Egyptians are the ones trying to stop the prophets. When we use LSD to be closer to Him, we are not doing what He condemns. HaShem created the universe so beautifully and perfectly; the laws of science are created so perfectly. LSD was DESIGNED by HaShem for the seers. It is a chemical, and He created atoms and elements to be put together into different ways...He left the potential for LSD, which we had to discover. The point is, that the people who try and spread the ideas that His children should "see no more visions" are the ones He is against. "Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions" does not mean the "illusions" brought by LSD. These are not mere illusions; they are visions. In this context, an "illusion" is ignoring the ways of HaShem and doing things that are easier and meaningless. Drugs for enlightenment are not inherently bad. He only says that abuse of these drugs are bad. Escaping into a fantasy world where we refuse to follow His ways.
total lack of sense of humor. well if youre right with your interpretation, you're a prophet man. and prophet always have a hard time , they're laughed at etc, you should expect that . and dont think to step back with your mission !! remember Jonas !
i dont call myself a prophet per se. we're all prophets, in our experience of God. I hate the term "blind faith" because we live in the world God created. Every day, we experience Him. He is in no way absent. So, I wouldnt call myself a prophet so much, I mean, in a way. But we all can be. On LSD, I was underneath the sky, and God, and I was totally absorbed in His presence. I felt like Moses, when he saw Him at Sinai on the burning bush. I painted and He painted the Tree of Life through my body. Outside, I stood under the same sky as my ancestors did. All the great prophets were here. And I became connected to all of them. And my ancestors who were Jews in eastern Europe... Just as the response from God that Moses got, in my vision, God revealed himself as Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh - I will be what I will be. It is impossible to comprehend the profound significance of this statement/name until you have experienced it. I suppose the difference between us as prophets, and Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and all of the others is that they were representatives to the people. I am a prophet to myself. What I experienced was for me alone. So I've got no obligation to "spread the word" or anything to that effect. I'm not schizophrenic or anything, and I am not some crazy acid freak. I am not preaching, just talking about what I experienced.
Dan67, since you have not tripped and take an externalized of view of psychedelics, you have no awareness of either their subjective capacity to expose the user to the divine within, or their historical place in doing so, which was documented thoroughly by researchers such a Dr.Leary, Metzner, Grof and so forth in the fifties and very early sixties. As Jesus said in Luke Ch.17, verses 20-23, "he was asked by the pharisees,'when will the Kingdom of Heaven cometh. Christ replied, In the last days they will say, the kingdom of Heaven cometh here, or the Kingdom of Heaven cometh there. Hear them not, for the Kingdom of Heaven cometh not with observation, the Kingdom of Heaven is within." Simply put my man, the divinity we seek is within us, not in some time and space thing coming down out of the sky as the dispensationalists evangelicals claim. On another note, Hippie came from LSD use. The peace and love came from the higher states produced by the LSD. Trust me sir, if you did a dose of real sixties LSD, your whole attitude of trying to view reality through the time and space lens of scripture would shift if not be eradicated altogether.
Oh, you are really fucking lost. I took your side when you appeared to be taking it from those who hadn't read your site, glanced over there, saw alot of work and, namaste tells me there is some element of divine somewhere within you but damned if I know where it is after studying this. (1) Just what do you define as 'drugs of enlightenment? (2) From where are you judging anything not to be a tool of the Divine if you have not communed with that spirit? (3) If you are closing any door to what may be profound knowledge for others, how do you believe you are doing the works of God? (4) j/w, for me, do you believe there are good drugs and bad drugs or do you think they are all bad? (5) Are you saying that the cooling rain experienced at Woodstock in the heat of a summer afternoon years ago is proof that psychedelics are bad for us and do not open us up to the Divine as so many who speak from experience believe wholeheartedly? (6) Have you considered taking a heroic dose of psychedelics (not cocaine or heroin) to see for yourself if you may 'open up' to God or anything Divine? It would be good to see what you may say if you were to speak from experience, Bro. On a sidenote, lately I have changed homepages because of this Paris Hilton garbage going on. It isn't newsworthy. I don't care about some spoiled brat crying about going to jail. Since you have brought her up in your post here, I believe the Divine is speaking to me about your personal speculations you so generously share across the wires. peace
Enough to know you really haven't studied this stuff very much. Um, the Christians are the Gnostics. And the Plymouth Pilgrims were Christians. You seem confused. Dude, the text in Isaiah 27:2 is I have no idea where you got your interpretation from, but you need to look at it again. As far as Deut. 32:28 goes, it's talking about the nations that oppose Israel will be destroyed because of their conceit and lack of insight. Exactly what are you trying to say here?
There are more and more people who have questions. I can not answer all of them directly. I hope that I people just take in my website and think things over and think for themselves. While honest, whole hearted guidence is helpful, everyone has a struggle within themselves for the truth, no matter what other people tell them. I hope that I have caused people to look at the bigger picture beyond popular culture. The way some people react to my being against drugs for enlightenment, it reminds me again of the verse in Micah 2; 11 "If one acting on impulse should make the futile claim: "I pour you wine and strong drink as my prophecy," then he would be the prophet of this people." It confirms the prophecy itself.
Yes, you can. If you wrote an entire website you can answer these 6 questions so others won't just assume you are another voice in the wilderness. If you're gonna try and share some personal rhetoric you have no proof or experience in, you are in error and it will be shown as much in how well you defend your words. You are simply bashing where thousands of others have seen truth, Ever think Jesus was in mushrooms and His second coming was in the acid? Maybe He was or maybe not. Thing is, when you close your mind off to outside possibilities no matter how much they go against your personal logic, there is the chance you are closing yourself to a new profound message from god. The world is changing faster and faster and logic is the enemy of faith, just as fear and lies are the enemy of love and truth. Love is in the heart and it holds the path back to God. God is everywhere and whatever opens up the path within to love is a blessing, period. Oh, and quit quoting goddam scriptures! The bible is long enough I can quote enough of it to justify or condemn any act you can think of! The bible was written by man, man. Through the same channel to God that each of us have today and there is a lot more truth a child's heart then therre is in that fearful, judgemental, dooming piece of work. No offense, however only an idiot tries to explain something he doesn't understand at all. Go get yourself dosed for the first time, then explain what it can or cannot do. Get it, bro?
I don't think they meant any harm by that. For one, that is a crazy connection that you have made and obviously put some research and time into it. Now correct me if I am wrong, but the website basically makes drugs, woodstock, and hippies evil. You are on a website full of us, they may be a little annoyed.
Actually, it's more like pulling interpretations out of his ass. He thinks he can just make up a bunch of nutty associations without any understanding of hermeneutics, Hebrew, or Greek. Sort of the "Mrs. Kennedy liked bananas...Mrs. Lincoln went bananas!"..."Wow! Farm out!" variety.
I admire you guys who squandered so many words on this topic. here a similar funny tale: an old man meets his buddy, "did I tell ya? I went to this third age university thing, man" "what did you learn?" "well they taught me... logics." " ?? " "say, have you any pets ?" "sure, my parrot. you know." "well, hence you love nature... right?" "yep." "and since you love nature, you like women as well, who are a part of nature!" "very true!" "see, thus I realized that since you've got a parrot you like women too, dig?" "wow, outta sight!" the next day the gut #2 meets another pal: "listen to this, it's amazing: first, do you have any parrots?" "hell no" "OMG this means you're a FAG !"
Speaking of squandering words... I guess now we're gonna hear all about how the Dead Sea Scrolls predicted the Monty Python Parrot Sketch...
