This isn't my scene. More comfortable in a small blues bar/open mike. Don't like being in a crowd of metal heads and all that horned hand signal crap.
That's actually one of my 3 'would attend' bands as well But yeah, not primarily because I dig their sound/songs.
Yea,would rather go to a hippy fest and I'm more likely to be seen at an open mic. But I get free hotel stay and trip so I'm gonna live it up and have fun. These bands aren't my favorite, but I like all music.
I'm the same with outdoor music fests Even if I dislike the music and performance I'm ok. I simply don't focus on the stage area then. The days i was worrying about the crowd being my scene are long gone. Although it is nice at a small indoor venue that with a particular subgenre a significant part of the crowd actually is roughly on the same page as me (mainly important with black metal or solid psych or stoner rock).
Aww that reminds me of the time my gf and I spent all morning at my library job in college calling a radio station to win tickets to Blink 182. Then finally they answered and my gf rolled her eyes thinking I was joking, but nope! I won. The show sucked, though. They are terrible live! But hey, free show!
I don't get why people still go and see Blink 182. I feel like I've heard this review from nearly everyone I've known that has seen them live, and yet I probably know more people who have seen them live than any other band, certainly of their contemporaries.
