ive got my freind's computer she wanted me to see if i could get it working it wont boot any way i can force it to boot? actually it wont even turn on it acts like the switch doesn't work push it the led will light but let it go it goes out and nothing any help would be greatly apprieciated thanks!
If it's an old computer the motherboard battery may need replacing, or the power supply unit may be knackered. Otherwise if it's the switch that's gone you can simply hook up another switch to the motherboard. If you look up the MB and find a manual that would help. There is a way to pull out the switch wires and 'cross' them to force a boot (again there are a few guides for this online), but I wouldn't try it unless your sure all else is hopeless. best wishes Shayla x
desk top nope no fans do i hear, lol mike yae thats what im thinkin iether the switch or power supply , thanks brian, mike lol shakti
When I've had that problem I'd hook up my laptop to my desktop and run the drives independantly. They check out, then test the power supply. That checks out, then test the RAM cards. Lot of factors, foolish to label anyone thing as an absolute cause. Check everything.
