That is all true but I still don’t label myself a feminist. I used to just a few years ago and was pretty outspoken but I see it a little more objectively now.

Maybe because I have been fortunate to have good men in my life (dad, husband, friends) I don’t see most men as patriarchal and demeaning. When you’re a hammer, all you see are nails. But there are misogynists out there who make radical feminism seem necessary because of the Harvey Weinstein’s of the world. Just one example.

 

I know all those additional things, I was just being sarcastic. The equal pay thing really throws me though. It's sad to know that there are Corporations, organizations, etc. that fluctuate pay between male and female employees who are equally qualified and have the same exact experience. None of it makes sense, but yet dumb shit such as this is allowed to go on without question.

At least once a month--at least--one of my partner's patients will request a different doctor. A male doctor. No shit, they flat out say, I'd be more comfortable with a male doctor. And, no, she's not a urologist.

It's clear cut case of sexism. A woman can't be a doctor, because...vagina!
A woman can't drive a car, because...vagina!

 

As should be clear by now I don't label myself as one either. I never been outspoken about it myself (except i guess, when trying to convey my thoughts on it in threads on here which is mostly because i disagree with how others perceive basic feminism, after looking at certain extremes going on now).
I hope you're not offended when i say i technically still see you as a feminist, wether you identify as one or not doesn't change that (same with myself for instance, or even 6-eyed who seems rigidly against feminism, but is a self proclaimed egalitarian). Its definitely not ment to offend of insult. I would say here too: more on the contrary. I sincerely believe Irms is technically a feminist too, no matter how hard she disagrees :-D

In all honesty, I think life is not cut and dry and I take things on an individual basis, so maybe there may be things about feminism I agree with, but not all. We are a culture way too caught up with labeling ourselves. Just be. And treat others as you want to be treated. Sad we need “movements” to get that point across.

But if you want to technically see me as such, feel free. Lol

Using male weaknesses and the perks of the female body to make your own money. A lot of people see the porn industry as a great example of female liberation. If i understand correctly its also one of the few branches of work where men get paid less than women.

Indulging in a lot of porn seems to make certain men come across a bit antifeminist.

But like you i also question large parts of the current visible movement! I just don't equate this very visible movement with general feminism

As pointed out i don't use it as a label Its just that technically you're feministic as in for societal equality for women (who for the largest part of history weren't equal)

Humans are such strange animals. Always worried about the personal business of others. As long as no one is harmed---who cares what people do? To answer my own question---seemingly damn near everyone. What is it to me if people are desirous of , or compelled to be gay? Lesbian? And all the rest of the letters? Or if women get the same money for the same job as their fellow employees that happen to have dicksnballs? How does that affect anyone in a negative way?

It would seem natural ,to assume that the roles of men and women were set before civilization, seeing as women had the children and therefore were , for a time, eliminated from the work of staying alive in their dangerous world. Also to assume the role of keeping the LITERAL home fires burning, because the men were stronger and faster and better able to handle weapons to protect their tribe-- group. Obviously, those perilous times are over and now it's about extracting resources to create products for mass consumption and I would aver , can be done by women as efficiently as men

 

Women and men are not the same. Some things are done or understood better by one sex. But that does not mean we don't need each other. We balance each other out.

There are numerous examples of women being leaders of men and inventing things. It's silly to keep them in the kitchen. Behind every great man is a great women. Even historicity when women had less rights they were probably doing a lot behind the scenes to help their men. For example a lot of inventions credited to men were probably shown to his wife before. Maybe the wife thought of it but she knew no one would take her seriously. The only area where they maybe can not is some physical tasks. Like we can not all be 6'9 and 260 pounds like Lebron James so we can't dunk. A 5'2 women will struggle more when working as a bouncer or something of that nature. Maybe she can still do it but it's easier to be large. But mentally women are every bit as good as men.

It does not make you less of a man to to admit this about women. In fact any man who really cares for women in his life will want the best for them. He will want them to live their dreams and be all they can be. We all have a mother. She could have just thrown us in a dumpster but instead she loved us, fed us, and dealt with our bull shit.

You get a lot more from women when you respect them. Like mine still cooks for me maybe because I don't tell her she has to.

 

I dunno what me getting married to another woman has anything to do with feminism. Marrying her cause I love her. That's not feminism, that's living.
