She tried a number of times before unsuccessfully as far back as when she was 28. http://www.sportingnews.com/sport/s...year-old-woman-diana-nyad-shark-cage-key-west
Diana Nyad is a true athlete and should be admired for her perseverance and mental and physical accomplishment. Unlike many of today's professional athletes she wasn't after fame and fortune but:
I'm 30 years of age and can barely swim a length of a standard pool... this is an amazing achievement and I marvel at what the human body can endure.
This is an amazing feat of physical and mental prowess, impressive enough if it were performed by a 25-year old professional athlete, let alone a 60-year old.
Diana Nyad was the first to swim from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage or flippers. In 2012 a 14 year old girl, Annaleise Carr, became the youngest to swim across Lake Ontario. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatche...irl-becomes-youngest-swim-across-lake-ontario
How did she piss shit drink and eat? Did she take any breaks on a boat or did she stay awake for all fifty hours? Anyone know?
Yeah she had breaks every half hour or something but I believe she had to stay afloat in the water under her own power.
