I am feeling rather fattish today. Mom and I went shopping a little bit and I am unsure how she feels about me wanting to lose weight... Its getting hard to deal with her as a person. I just kind of avoid her. I want to lose about 20 lbs. I want to start calorie counting soon, I think I want to hover around 1300-1500 calories per day. I will probably only do light exercise at first and then move on to heavier stuff.. I hope it'll actually happen.. wish me luck... pray to change my mother's heart.

    thanks yall
    Tracy

also, I wanted to bounce something off of you guys... my boyfriend said that he is willing to reward me for exercising/healthy habits with sex... is this a bad idea? I dunno, something about it seems weird... I dont think I should have to work for my sex...

Hmm...the sexual reward thing is a little weird. Might add an unnecessary element of dysfunction into the relationship. How "good" you are about eating and exercising should have no effect on how much sex you get.
But on a similar note, the more I exercise and the healthier I eat, the higher my sex drive is.

Does your mother not want you to lose weight? If so, does she have weight issues with herself? Just curious, not trying to pry.

Today was OK. I ate pretty healthy overall--apple, orange, banana, gardenburger, chicken w/rice + broccoli...but then a crapload of Ben & Jerry's ice creme with a banana sliced in.

My period is over and therefore the monthly bloating is over and I can see my true weight--159! Finally below 160. This is going slowly but at least it's going. Just stay with it Tracy. It IS possible and you're already in a better position than where you were a month ago. Stay strong and stay motivated; I'm here if you need anything. :)

I think I'm going to tell my boyfriend that I want outings and clothes/etc as my rewards every week or two. I really hope to be a more active partner...last time we had sex my legs started killing me and I had to stop the position we were in.. poor ken. lol.

ya, so about mom- she's been attempting to lose weight for as long as I can remember.. and its never really worked... the trouble is she always eats junk food and she's been working out fairly regularly for years so now her body is used to it... I think it would be very hard for her to lose weight..

So far today I've eaten two slices of reduced fat turkey bologna, a few slices of raisin, walnut bread and spinach with two long stalks of organic celery.
lace, you're so sweet....thanks for all your encouragement..
I hope that I will be able to clean my room this weekend. its been a mess for a long time.

I was home alone today for a few hours and got bored so I ended up finishing the brownies, wheat crackers & 2 slices of pie.....no wonder I gained weight

I can relate, squawkers. Being alone and bored is my diet's #1 worst enemy.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, so I'm trying to eat as much good healthy stuff as possible. I have some vegetable soup cooking on the stove as we speak. Sauteed broccoli, red bell pepper, garlic, yellow zucchini + organic chicken broth and carrots. I'm going to blend it up and add some cayenne pepper at the last minute and it'll be sooo yummy.

hey!! does anyone want to join me in an exercise program? Its a 3 week training session that includes ab work 3 days a week, body shaping with weights 2 days a week and a walk everyday. All the exercises are of varying intensities throughout the week and its supposed to tone you up quickly. Whadda ya say??? I'd love a partner in this, even if we're apart...

I'll do it with you. The weather right now is so perfect for walking. Do we make our own strength training workout or are you following something specific?

i'm following something specific, its from prevention magazine... of course since you're a trainer any advice or better exercises are welcome! the weather is perfect for walking... i hope it helps us/me tone up, I don't have much muscle tone anymore.. when shall we start? I need to figure out where the school gym is.

    oh ya deadbear,
I am thinking I will substitute rebounding (health jumping on a small trampoline) for the walking some days...what do you think?

Hmmm, well I work out almost every day as it is, unless something comes up. (I work at the Y so I'm there anyway, I might as well work out). I guess the first thing we should do is set some attainable goals. You can either PM me here or email me at cutelildeadbear@yahoo.com, and I will email you back with my goals. As far as the program, I think you should go ahead and stick with the one you found in prevention if you can do it.

My program is working upper body 2x's as much as lower because I was a slacker for so long when it came to chest and back. So I do upper on Monday and Thursday and I do lower on Wednesday, and I do elliptical trainer every day except leg day (otherwise my legs would fall off!) I want to start walking around the university since it is fall and it is so nice out, so I will probably do that one day instead of the elliptical, or maybe on a Sunday. So the rebounding (as long as your knees can take it) would be a fine substitute.

Let me know. :) This should be fun!

Why don't you get to eat enough healthy foods? Maybe that is something I can help you with. I have tons of recipes and meal ideas. Honestly, all research points to both exercise and a balanced diet to lose weight and tone up.

Let me know specifically where the problem lies and I'll see what I can suggest. Otherwise let's get going on this! :) You don't burn that many calories typing. hehehe.

well alot of it has nothing to do with me. my mom is the food purchaser and she doesn't like to make it easy to go food shopping... shes often tired or busy when we've planned to go. Its hard to eat well when the food at home is short. I've talked to her about it several times. One way I got her to shop once was asking if she wanted to go on a diet with me we never did...

Oh Meep! I'm so sorry, I know exactly where you are coming from. Unfortunately, that makes this very difficult I know. Growing up we only had processed junk in the house. We drank Kool Aid and regular soda all of the time, my mom insisted on whole milk (which makes me gag now) because of my father we had to either have steak, hambugers or spaghetti every night, no fish and rarely chicken. We never had fresh vegetables, I didn't even know what asparagus was until my boyfriend made it for me like 4 years ago. We had regular ice cream every night and not just one serving, more like 3 not to mention all of the toppings my mom bought to put on it. Full fat, full calorie everything. My parents just didn't get it. My mom packed my lunch until like 11th grade. Never packed any fruit, just snack cakes and chips and sandwhiches on white bread with mayo. I begged my parents to let me buy diet food but they said that it was too expensive and I was just going to have to learn to ignore the food. Had I done that I would have starved in their house. Now that I think back on all of this I am like "duh you stupid assholes no wonder I ended up at 365lbs by age 18". My parents are responsible for a lot of my weight problem, but as soon as I got out of their house, I lost 165lbs.

I'm not going to tell you it will be easy because I know first hand that it isn't. Are you sure that your parents are well aware that you would like to eat more healthy? Have you sat down and talked to them about your health and how you would like to try to lose weight. One thing about most parents (mine were retarded) is that they want to feel needed by their children and they really do want to help. I'm thinking that perhaps if you really expressed how you feel about it they might try to help you by getting the foods you need. Maybe go to the doctor and get a diet plan from them and see if you can get your parents to buy that stuff. Or if you can come up with $11 a week then you can try Weight Watchers I didn't use them but I know people who have lost a lot on their plan. They might give you some good ideas as to what you can have that your parents already have at home.

I will dig through some recipes this weekend and try to help you out with ideas of what to make. But even with having regular food with out the low fat/cal substitutes you can still lose weight if you watch your portion sizes and exercise regularly.

If you don't hear from me on here, just email me and remind me. :)

    Talk to you soon.

    Jen
