    Please help! I'm so tired of not being able to watch any YouTube videos because they get unbearably blurry after a few seconds. Recently, I've had a message pop up during a game of Skyrim that my memory is getting low on my Windows 8.1 laptop and I decided not to shut down Skyrim because I didn't save my progress. Since then, all YouTube videos have been horribly blurry. It happened once again during a game of Skyrim and this time I let it close the program of my game to refresh and help fix the memory problem. But the videos are still awfully blurry! The only time I can watch a clear video is when I put a show or something on its playlist and watch the episodes like that--then there is no problem. But viewing music videos or lyric videos or ones independent of a playlist, it's horrible. The page file is perfectly alright, I've checked. I did a troubleshooting and it came up with no problem. The Adobe Flashplayer is completely updated, so it's not that either.
    Has anyone has this happen as well? I have a friend who recently bought his laptop and for the first month, that message would pop up for him too but it's alright now and it never bothered the YouTube video viewing for him.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/mspfe/ar...caling-on-windows-8-1-the-enterprise-way.aspx

    hen you say bluury, is it just unclear or is here stuttering?

    Do you know when you upgraded do windows 8.1?

    Windows 8.1 does some forced pixel scaling so it will look good on tablets and pcs, and it can screw things up. Right click on your browser, and there should be an opti8n to turn off dpi.

    if that helps you can change it universely like in the link.

    It seems as though YouTube changes and stick to the Auto 144p resolution for all videos. I am forced to change to HD on every video in order to watch it. It's blurry and unclear. No stutters. But thank you so much for your reply!!

    How much bloateware is there? ctrl+alt+delete to see which processes are running RAM and a quick google search to see if it is something unnecessary and can be uninstalled. also in youtube settings, you can switch it from being a flash player, to playing in html5 , Id did it so I could browse youtube on ipad and it seemed to load faster.

    You provided way to many variables and no vital info.
    What brand laptop?
    CPU?
    What is the video chipset, nVidea or ATI?
    How much RAM?
    HDD or SSD?
    If HDD, what speed, 5400rpm or 7200rpm?
    Wireless or wired connection?
    What is your connection speed?
    What is the response time of the display? (response times slower than 5 milliseconds can result in ghosting/blurring in movies/games)

    Is the install of Skyrim vanilla or do you have mods/utilities installed. (you should go the Nexus and get the recent memory patches for Skyrim)

    What other apps/processes are running in the background?

    Have you checked the virtual memory settings?

    What are you using to view videos? (VLC is the best I have come across, Windows media player bites and likes to "call home" a lot, same with anything from Apple)

    With more info it would be easier to help provide a possible answer, but the most reasonable thing to do is reboot the machine after playing Skyrim, and add more RAM if you don't have at least 8 gigs. ;)

    here is the system config for your computer. You can see what type of memory it takes
    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-660s_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf

    it has two sockets, max total capacity is 8 gigs, DDR3 1600mhz (PC3-12800)
    You need to open the case and see if there are one or two memory modules installed. If there are two pieces, then you need to pull both and replace with two 4gig modules. If there is only one you can just add another 4gig module, just try to get the same make/model which means buying it from Dell.
    If you replace both, you have more choices, but either way 8gigs is gonna cost right around $100.
    Here is the manual;
    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-prod...esktop/inspiron-660s_Owner's Manual_en-us.pdf

    Then you can purchase what you need to boost it to 8gigs.
    here it is at Dell;
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...=memory+selector&scat=prod&ref=ac&p=1&x=3&y=6

    and from Newegg;
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...iption=( PC3-12800 )&name=4GB&Order=BESTMATCH

    hope that helps :mickey:

    p.s. pick a different font color please, our eyes thank you. :)

    Sorry its my favorite (better?) by same make/model do both actually have to be same brand manufacturer even or are you only meaning all of the numbers match - timing and all of that. Thanks for the links.

    just the memory modules should all be the same in all respects.
    If you only need to add another piece, I would recommend getting it from Dell just to avoid any possible compatibility issues.
    If replacing both as long as they are a pair and meet the specs of PC3-12800 RAM you should be fine.

    You can mix and match brands, but in my experience it can lead to issues.
    It is usually best to buy RAM in kits comprised of matched pairs/sets. They have supposedly been tested and paired based on actual performance rather than just type.
