I agree. There is no object called love. But I am sure it is also not entirely subjective either. I believe love itself transcends the duality of subject/object. Yes. Truth is perfect correspondence with reality. Truth is the relationship between reality and all information about reality. Ideally, there is no difference between reality, information, and their relationship. And yes, of course, truth is relative to the subject. Yes, but that's like saying music is dependant on the instruments upon which it is created, and nothing more. It doesn't completely explain what music is. A Fender Strat and a Marshall Stack is not "Purple Haze." Thanks, but, have you SEEN my brain? Well, at least we agree that something can exist without any physical proof of its existence. Yes, but I think that however complex one's brain and its' functions are, however creative one's brain may be, it is ultimately a receptive organ that evolved to perceive and respond to reality, or the universe, or God, or whatever you want to call that mysterious source of the information being processed. To say that spiritual states are mere functions of the brain seems akin to saying that light is a function of the eye. So, you're saying there is a hierarchy of genius? I can live with that. The same thing could be said about Jimi Hendrix, or Thomas Edison, or Spalding Grey, or Jon Stewart, or . . . Exactly. What is it that the brain perceives as "divine?" You've got to love Timothy Leary. And who ever said that the spiritual and the physical do not or can not coexist? I just can't believe that. I do believe, however, that reality exists, that the space between things is just as important and influential and worthy of attention as the things, and that there is far more mystery to all of this than any "thing" can contain. And you ARE your soul. Peace and Love
well it sounds like you are quite comfortable in your new age beliefs Libertine...and you are stating these personal conclusions as facts. I guess that's the difference between follwing Christ and following your own thoughts....sometimes following Christ goes against what you want or think...but as you stick with Him you see why He is right and how he uses bad times to teach us good lessons and help us grow. Thinking for yourself only leads to sorrow...cause we are sinful by nature and our ways lead us to self-destruction. Plus we all think differently and we cant all be right. Like i said before...one God, one way, one faith. Not that we end up being identical in our beliefs, cause GOd deals with us all uniquely depending on our needs, strengths and weaknesses. We can all be friends of God. But it takes alot of courage to swim against the flow....to go against the grain...but it's worth it in the end. My brain is not God, God gave me my brain when he knit me together inside my mother. And to everyone truly seeking truth: Love eachother...seriously love eachother! I mean make sacrifices and put eachother first! DO something for someone that you might get nothing back from. Give eachother our best instead of our leftovers! That is where the freedom is. Freedom from the oppression of ourselves and our despair. Forgiveness can heal wounds you thought would never heal! Love never fails! How can we not want it or want to give it? How can we not be blown away by this most powerful force?? It moves us in ways nothing else can! Once you embrace it it's like life in your veins. And until you let the Love of God reign in you, you will not find true peace. You can search through all the books all you want... GOd says you can have all the knowledge in the world but it's all completely meaningless if you dont have..LOVE.
I was a friend of a Unitarian-Universalist congregation in my area for a while, but found them to be a group bereft of any spiritual integrity, at least as I see it. While there are exceptions, they are generally a group who, in my opinion, have 'thrown the baby out with the bathwater' and have become a group that likes to stroke egos. What they and other religious liberals need to understand is that christianity is not the problem. Christianity has been stolen from fundamentalists and FLOABT 'orthodoxic' cultists. It's time to take it back! http://www.uuchristian.org/ http://pantheon.yale.edu/~kd47/univ.htm http://freechristians.com/ http://www.americanunitarian.org/ http://www.christian-universalism.com/ http://www.auburn.edu/~allenkc/uc/wuf.html http://www.religioustolerance.org/christ.htm
Actually, they're not even real. No, they only represent the fact that the thing is too tight and chokes the hell out of me. So, I don't wear it regularly, but I thought it made a good pic.
chokes hell out of ye ? maybe you should take it off then. doe"s that picture of the peace sign you make also make you a good picture?
Listen pal, don't play games with me, ok? Don't insult me, man. That just makes you small. You fit the bill: When someone can't drum up a decent argument they start the insults and ad hominem attacks. Pitiful... I don't need a fucking "spirit" world to believe in PEACE & FREEDOM. I wear what I want because I don't need a god telling me what to do.
We do perceive God.Do I have to explain everything?I gess I dK here I go. All Reality you see before you is a perception.Impulses made by the brain. However we all seem to share a Reality together. But each of our illusions are different because we all are differnt.Carl Jung had a theroy that all humans are connected by a network called the "Collective Unconisse"(damm I cant spell) If this is true(Tim Leary agreed with it, if that will help you work with me here) Then all animals on earth have a collecitve unconisse. How ever those differ between each other 2.For example We see in color.Dogs see in black and white. So what do they all precievie. The Ulimate Reality.God.He is one with Reality. He has allways exsisted and allways will. The universal Mind lets say.His power is allround us.The only reson you cant see it is that you keep playing hide and seek with him.
I think it was Buckminster Fuller who said, "God is a verb, not a noun." And I am sure it was St. Paul who said, "God is love." It seems to me that you do best when you pay attention to whatever it is that inspires you and when you believe whatever is the most true and makes the most sense to you. Who knows?
Can anyone just give a straight answer? Instead of all this sophistry... So far the ones who have given links and not insults and some esoteric rambling are the ones I pay FAR more attention too.
How about this.......the world is messed up and God will fix it.Help him out.Become a christain.Try to help others to become christains.Help garentee that people will be saved.Show love for god.He will get you through the hard times.....meh thats all I got right now
I like you, Art. I respect your honesty, sincerity and patience. However, no one here has convinced me of anything I've asked so far. But, kudos for your attempt! Keep being who you are, man.
thanks Just one thing I must say The chruch made up hell.Hell is not in the bible. The Grave is in the Bible but not hell.If that helps Im not sure but just know that that bible says "There is no planing nor divsing in death... " and the bible talked about the rain cycle before it was discovered by sicentists. If that helps you out.
