Yeah seems pretty fuckin unlikely. Thats what sucks about being logical is getting the cold hard truth
reincarnation is not supernatural.. its a religious aspect brought forth in Hindi, Paganism.. Catholicism.. its found in a lot of religions actually
is "god" really that illogical? we still don't understand so much about our minds and bodies from a scientific aspect.. there are some things we just cannot explain about life.. even though scientists have again and again tried to come to conclusions about it
If one of you could prove to me that you are real, and that everything around is me is as i perceive it, or have been told how i should perceive it, then i shall gladly give my input on current issues around established beliefs and religions... I think i may really be loosing touch with something that may in fact be real, but i am really beginning to doubt... Shit
the unknown is a vicious cycle.. you think you know.. then something comes along to either debunk what you know.. or add more to what you know.. and then the thought process begins all over again.. when in all actuality none of us are correct in our speculation.. why? because none of us have died
Well I was talking about reincarnation. I don't even want to talk about God though lol, I don't believe in God but it's possible but I really don't care enough about it because it's not like we will ever know.
A scientists arguing on the point of nature though would say anything involves in reincarnation is not nature of science.
Yeah I always thought about that. You know how animals get tortured and shit before they are made into meat, well I have heard that all of that trauma and stress that was in that beings life, will actually influence the consumer, and the consumer will get the same feelings of terror that the animal had when it was tortured. It kinda makes sense to me, I don't really believe it anymore than I believe in karma and shit tho.
ah but philosophy isn't science. Nature is a constant, a universe of laws and physical reality. Anything beyond that delves into religion and the supernatural. Like i said, reincarnation =/= god but reincarnation = belief in something supernatural. It's an argument for something that isn't physical existing and being able to pass on.
Now a stupid question i ask, i was typing a post but completely shocked myself... Is philosophy not essentially a religion? I see it as a kind of way of putting the unclassified material into focus, but is that not too much like faith?
I like living in this life, I don't really dwell on religious topics like what happens when we die, our purpose of existence, the existence of God, etc. I only occasionally think about them, if the situation arises like this thread. If you had to tell me to really try and think of God, I would find myself daydreaming of special moments in my life or things about life that particularly please me. Napping and resting on a flat boulder in the middle of winding stream in the Smoky Mountains, the rush of the river below lulling me to sleep. Lying on my back at night in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, scanning the stars and watching falling debris enter our atmosphere and streak the sky. Floating in the ocean, watching the clouds pass over head and the sound the waves and the wind around. The afterglow of a sunset. Et cetera. I find the same comfort in those experiences as I would think a religious person finds in praying to and worshiping god.
Exactly. The only god there is is all of us, and we are the only thing stopping ourself from having a good time.
but there are people that have "died", no matter how brief the moment may of been, and then were brought back to life if there's a "god", that probably shouldn't happen. and what do those people remember about their brief moment in death? nothing, to my knowledge and thus, we will all become worm food.
I think while religion must equal philosophy, philosophy doesn't have to equal religion. I see religion actually as one of the sub topics of philosophy(which metaphysics is) Much philosophy has to do with human action and involvement with the physical world though, and of natural life in general.
See this is why I fuckin hate this topic, the smart people all eventually let everyone know the truth, and then I end up even more depressed for even being in this thread.
meh.. that is not good evidence. because there are the stories of the people who have died and came back to life and said they did see "god" or "heaven"... like i said.. WE as in YOU do not know.. because WE.. as in YOU or ME have not died yet
I heard a interesting theory about that once. I am not expressing exactly what was said, just what i recall. Supposedly once your brain begins to shut down, everything activates at once, leading to all your memories/receptors to flash to life at once... Some see their lives flash past their eyes, others see a bright light, others see locations etc.
