Lol Thanks, in many ways i'm a typical bleeding heart liberal but I try my best to be fair and i dont pledge blind allegiance to either party, i appreciate the fact that you dont either
Are you suggesting we shouldn't speak out against things we don't believe in no matter what side we take? I thought that was the essence of free speech.
I'm confused, maybe I jumped in the middle of something without realizing it and my comment seemed more pointed than I intended it? Why do you think i was suggesting that? I'm going to spend at least the next 4 years of my life speaking out against what I dont believe in and trying to protect what I do believe in, so I apologize for the misunderstanding. My comment certainly wasnt directed towards you. I usually agree with you, not always but more times than not and i admire how you always take the time to back up your claims with sources so I certainly wouldnt refer to you as unfair.
So was Mussolini. https://www.britannica.com/topic/corporatism https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2013-07-15/fascist-italy-s-experiment-with-economic-corporatism https://www.routledge.com/Corporatism-and-Fascism-The-Corporatist-Wave-in-Europe/Costa-Pinto/p/book/9781138224834 http://www.crf-usa.org/bill-of-rights-in-action/bria-25-4-mussolini-and-the-rise-of-fascism.html http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2015/11/mussolini-style-corporatism-aka-fascism-on-the-rise-in-the-us.html
No, I'm pretty sure she meant in the sense that so many will "tow the party line" for really no other reason than it is "their" party. I think we see it clearly happening now, most folks I know who supported/support Trump are completely oblivious to what has been going on the last two weeks or they don't want to here about it, yet still think Trump is the man. I try to be fair and relatively neutral and consider shit on a case by case basis, but as mentioned before, I fail to find any redeeming qualities worthy of him being considered "fairly". In all fairness and after much consideration of the facts, I have come to the conclusion the man is a moron. I am the same way. This is the most vocal I have been concerning politics ever in my life and the reason is because I honestly am completely dumbfounded at what is going on and more so by the support for it.
I'm past the point of being fair in that I want to "wait and see what happens." I already know enough But I dont want to compare him to Hitler until we start seeing signs that he intends to commit genocide. I personally dont think that will happen, but I do fear he will condone and encourage violence by the police against protesters in an attempt to squash dissent. I havent seen anyone here compare him to Hitler though, i was just agreeing that being aware of the warning signs of fascism doesnt mean one thinks he plans to murder millions of people. For the record i admire the reasoning skills of most of our members here (there are always exceptions) and I was not accusing anyone here of blindly following their party, i was just making a general statement.
Dr Seuss lived in a lighthouse and wore funny hats lined with tinfoil in order to defeat the insidious alien anal probe mind conspiracy behind the Illuminati. It didn't work, which is why all his books contain nonsense words.
So genocide is the essence of Fascism? Was Mussolini a fascist? Fascism=Populism+Nativism+Nationalism+Scapegoating+Leadership Principle+Statism. All the indicators are there except Statism. Trump is just getting started there, but seems to be off to a good start with his demonization of the press and other regime opponents. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, should we call it a pussycat?
The latest Gallup poll shows people favorable to Trump at 43% and people holding an unfavorable view of him at 51%. Democracy in action!
What the hell lol, you guys really have me scratching my head, like why have 2 people completely misunderstood me in this thread? Am i not expressing myself as effectively as I think I am? My entire point was that genocide is NOT the essence of fascism, that one can point out his fascist tendencies without insinuating that he will be the next Hitler. I actually think Trump takes a lot from Mussolini's playbook.
I like you a lot more from the Dahmer reference. I read that dudes fathers book and unlike you, i felt almost uncomfortably close to Dahmer. There are a lot of characteristics between us both that we share. I'd probably eat a cooked body if it was offered to me.
So because some people may be violent towered people they fear they are the bad ones? Universally we are all evil and will act the same. That's a bit of a stretch.Which party is always threatening to use guns to get their way since it's their right? If the shoe was on the other foot there would be violence as well. So you are entitled to kill a man but someone being beaten up is too far? Protest is a right. Are you aware that Obama received more death threads in his first month then any other president in 8 years? How many gay people have been assaulted? How many peaceful Muslims by men like you? Personally in my life more than once I have been threatened with violence by Republicans for not sharing their opinion. A few times because I said liked Bernie and a few times years before that. Two of these people also said basically that they would love to shoot Hillary and "start the revolution" As far I know only the Mexican cartel has said they will kill Trump (and they can trust me). People who don't like Trump tend to be the people who do not own guns. Sure one of them could easily buy one but you must admit it's not really the same norm to own them and love them as Republicans right? For the record I do not support any violence though. You are an American too. We are one different sides here but you really have no clue. Typical victim mentality without understanding you do the same. It's fundamental to the conservative identity. It's "your country" and the mean liberals pick on you. If you truly cared for your country and the second amendment you would see this is bigger then red vs. blue. Sadly all you see is blue is upset. When I say country I mean the fundamental way of life. The respecting of freedom not what you deem freedom. Respect a veteran and keep Ameirca free. Bet you have family that fought Nazis don't you? "sad and petty" as Trump would say.
I wasn't trying to be critical of you and I know the remark wasn't about me. What I was concerned about was an opinion some might get that taking sides in a debate makes one unfair. I was considering your response to Penguin where he commented that you are the only other person, besides him, that doesn't take sides on an issue. My question to both of you is, does taking sides make one unfair? In other words, if anyone chooses to form an opinion for or against certain policies, debates, ideas, etc., does that meant they haven't given a fair hearing to the other side? Penguin said you don't take sides, which is fine, and you replied that you try your best to be fair and don't have blind allegiances, which is also fine. I understand the no blind allegiances part I'm just asking if you think anyone can be fair if they "choose a side" in a debate as many of us choose sides for and against many things. It's a philosophical question, not a judgement of anyone.
The trick is whether they have chosen a side AFTER considering all the pertinent data, or have they chosen a side solely because it's "their" side regardless of pertinent data.
NoxiousGas gets what my point was better than I could have worded it. MeAgain. i will tell this the simplest way I can. I read the political posts here and after seeing someone post maybe 5 to 10 times it becomes obvious if they are far left or far right. Mel is the only one I see that hasn't been the case. (At least by americans) when you ONLY point out the negatives of one side and positives of the other I personally don't listen to your opinions anymore. I am more for the 1st ammendment than anything else in this country so I am glad everyone can say what they like. I just won't give any credit to opinions left or right that drinks the kool-aid.
