You people follow the news like a Protestant watches the beatification of a saint by the Pope on TV. The Boston globe published those photos from AN IRAQI PORN SITE. The Boston Globe reported the men in the video, incorrectly, as American soldiers and have already retracted their entire story.

I'm not saying that I agree with Jozak since this is the first time I'm hearing this porn idea. I haven't researched it much yet. But here's some stuff from the OpinionJournal that seems to share Jozak's claim. From http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/...

    Boston Globe Publishes Anti-American Porn
A Boston city councilman held a press conference the other day to disseminate enemy propaganda. Dan Kennedy of the Boston Phoenix quotes the press release announcing the event:

Release of US Military rape photographs in Iraq!!!

    Assignment Desk/City Desk:

The Black Community Information Center Inc. will hold a press conference on Tuesday, May 11th, 2004, 9:30 a.m. The purpose of the press conference is to release copies of dramatic photos of members of the US Military, gang raping innocent Iraqi women in Iraq.

The press conference will be held in the Curley Room at Boston City Hall (5th Floor) in downtown Boston, Massachusetts.

For more information, call [phone numbers deleted].

    Sadiki Kambon
    Director, BCIC Inc.

The Boston Globe reported on the event, where Councilman Chuck Turner declared: "The American people have a right and responsibility to see the pictures." The Globe made it clear that Kambon and Turner's claims were thin:

The images, depicting men in camouflage uniforms having sex with unidentified women, bear no characteristics that would prove the men are US soldiers or that the women are Iraqis. And there is nothing apparent in the images showing they were taken in Iraq. Unlike the photographs widely publicized last week, the images appear to have been taken outdoors in a sandy area with hills in the background.

As both Kennedy and WorldNetDaily report, the photos were fake. "They were taken from pornographic websites and disseminated by anti-American propagandists, as WorldNetDaily first reported by WND a week ago":

A WND investigation has revealed that most of the photos are taken from the American pornographic website "Iraq Babes," and the Hungarian site, "Sex in War," which is linked to by the American site. Both websites are linked to by violent pornography sites and both describe Iraqi women--played by "actresses"--in vulgar terms.

The Globe found itself in a kerfuffle over a photo it ran with yesterday's story, which showed Kambon and Turner displaying the photos at the press conference. (That photo--which as you might expect is somewhat graphic--is reproduced at the Drudge Report.) Today the Globe ran the following "editor's note":

A photograph on Page B2 yesterday did not meet Globe standards for publication. The photo portrayed Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner and activist Sadiki Kambon displaying graphic photographs that they claimed showed US soldiers raping Iraqi women. Although the photograph was reduced in size between editions to obscure visibility of the images on display, at no time did the photograph meet Globe standards. Images contained in the photograph were overly graphic, and the purported abuse portrayed had not been authenticated. The Globe apologizes for publishing the photo.

Kennedy argues that the story the photos accompanied "is completely legitimate, making it clear that there was no way of authenticating the photos . . . and even raising the possibility that it was all an Internet fraud--as it indeed turned out to be."

We're not so sure we'd agree with the defense of the story. Turner and Kambon are racist crackpots, as Kennedy notes, citing an April Boston Herald report:

Turner was quoted as saying that [Condoleezza] Rice isn't concerned "about the plight of the majority" of African-Americans. Okay, she's a foreign-policy wonk, not a domestic-policy analyst. But then Turner added that Rice is a "tool to white leaders. . . . It's similar in my mind to a Jewish person working for Hitler in the 1930s." Say what?

Kambon, naturally, was even more outrageous, calling her "Condoleezza White Rice" and "The Negro Security Adviser."

The Globe's original story on the porn photos also reports that Kambon "said at the news conference that he received the photographs by e-mail from Akbar Muhammad, a representative for the Nation of Islam."

This is roughly the equivalent of a newspaper skeptically but respectfully reporting on a showing of anti-American propaganda by David Duke, which Duke says he got from the Ku Klux Klan. Such an action by Duke might be newsworthy, but the story would be about an extremist hate-monger peddling lies, not a respected officeholder making a statement that may or may not be true.

There are court marshalls going on as we speak. Some of the people involved in the prisoner abuse have CONFESSED, the people in the photos were IDENTIFIED as American Soldiers, some of who have already CONFESSED. The nine are being charged with everything from violating the Geneva Convention to Adultery (which is against miliaty law, seems Private England and one of her male counterparts fucked in front of the prisoners, made them watch, and took pictures of it.) And England is complaining (she is back at Fort Bragg) that her fellow soldiers at Bragg are shunning her. AWWWWW, poor torturer.

Jozak, the first url you gave wasn't even ABOUT the prisoner scandal at Abu Ghraib!!!! It was about a falsified story about a womyn being raped. It has NOTHING TO DO with the prisoner scandal at the Abu Ghraib prison. (Which is what the rest of us,and the rest of the WORLD are talking about.) Get your sources straight, you should know better. You and Boosh are arguing about a different issue!!!!

Here, dozens of stories about it. (The Abu Ghraib prisoner scandal, that is.)

    http://search.cnn.com/cnn/search?source=cnn&invocationType=search%2Ftop&sites=cnn&query=abu+ghraib

I doubt CNN made them up.

I can't beleive anyone is questioning this.

Oh, the prejudiced, hate-filled, Republican-voting hard-of-thinking will question it. They can't see past their own noses. Some on this board are not questioning it, but justifying it, which is even worse than denying it even happened.

Quite why they come here to spout their ignorant nonsense is beyond me... Their ideas are often little more than ingrained prejudices, so they don't come looking for open debate. Perhaps it's just an attempt to disrupt liberal, informed, progressive debate which runs counter to their limited ideological bias? That's my guess.

Jozak, dear, look at this. There is torture, sexual assault and MURDER going on against Iraqis in this prison. Pretending it didn't happen doesn't cure the survivors of thier shattered emotional state or bring back the dead.

There should be FULL punishment for all involved in this. Court Marshall (which is going on as we speak) imprisonment, and excecution, if murder was performed.

NO EXCUSE FOR TREATING ANYONE LIKE THIS.

*Some* of the pictures that got published that allegedly showed rape and stuff in that prison turned out to be from that porn site. However, the prison abuse scandal did happen. There are also plenty of other authentic pictures and other evidence of the scandal.

I think all that happened here is somebody misread an article and/or made a bad assumption or two.

Oh for Christ's sake, I never said the prison scandal did not happen, IT DID. Of course I want the people to be punished for what they did. Again, though, not all the pictures allegedly coming from the prison actaully took place, as Booshnoogs and I have been discussing, you have chosen to ignore it, regarding the sex acts and such.

Again, you did not answere my question, you had no place telling me to, "wake the fuck up," as if I had not heard of the prison scandal and crimes committed there. All I posted was some additional information.

Are you serious? How out of place and cliche.

"Some" is all that is neccesary. ONE picture or report is all that is neccesary. The assumption was professed, by Jozak, that this didn't happen (at least that is how most of us read it) and that is a misunderstanding of the issue.

American soldiers TORTURED, SEXUALLY ASSAULTED and most likely MURDERED Iraqi prisoners. There is no excuse for this, no matter if it happened a thousand times or just once. This is a crime and even ONE crime like this needs to be punished to the fulllest extent of the law, to have a public apology made to the Iraqi people, and to remove the people from public office whose watch this occured on. Some Americans go on and on about how we don't "stoop" to the level of Saddaam and the other Iraqis. Yet this is just as bad. It makes America look bad, but most of all it makes the War and the Military and the Administration look like the hippocrites that they are.

There is NO WAY to rationalize these crimes, nor any way to explain them away. Evil was commited and those responisble are War Criminals. WHY in God's name would one even try to defend them or make these crime seem less horrific or huge than they are?
