The Corona virus has been raging across the world for the past 10 months and yet the stupid bastards in the scumbag 'nasty party' are only now contemplating imposing travel restriction on those arriving in the uk. New rules for travellers arriving in England delayed until next week PA Jan 13th 2021 7:09PM New rules requiring travellers arriving in England to have a negative coronavirus test have been delayed “to give international arrivals time to prepare”. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps last week announced passengers arriving in England by boat, train or plane – including UK nationals – will have to test negative for Covid up to 72 hours before leaving the country of departure. The restrictions were due to come into force at 4am on Friday, but have been moved to the same time on Monday. UPDATE: To give international arrivals time to prepare ⏱️ passengers will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before departure to England from MONDAY 18 JANUARY at 4am — Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP (@grantshapps) January 13, 2021 In a statement on Twitter, Mr Shapps said: To give international arrivals time to prepare passengers will be required to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test before departure to England from MONDAY 18 JANUARY at 4am.” Travellers will need to present proof of a negative test result to their carrier on boarding while the UK Border Force will conduct spot checks on arrivals. New arrivals who flout the rules will face a minimum £500 fine, while the operator who transported them will also be fined. Passengers will still have to quarantine for 10 days regardless of their test results. Travellers will have to take an internationally approved test and guidance released by the Department for Transport said they could include PCR tests, nasal and throat swab tests which take between 12 and 24 hours to return results. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests, which can return results in two to three hours, and lateral flow tests which generate results in less than 30 minutes are also acceptable. Results can be produced as physical documents or by email or text, but must be in English, French or Spanish. Translations will not be accepted. British nationals attempting to return home who test positive must not travel and must follow the local guidance in their host country, and contact the nearest consulate if they need support. Scotland is also set to adopt the same approach to international travellers, while Wales and Northern Ireland are expected to announce their own plans for pre-arrival testing in the coming days.
Government saying flights from Brazil COULD be banned, instead of saying SHOULD be banned !!! Flights from Brazil could be banned over new Covid strain PA Jan 14th 2021 3:47AM Travel from Brazil to the UK could be banned on Thursday in response to a new strain of coronavirus in the South American country. The measure is expected to be considered at an afternoon meeting of the Government's key "Covid-O" committee which oversees restrictions. It has been reported that flights from Brazil's 10 neighbouring countries – including Argentina and Peru – could also be halted. Meanwhile, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced that new rules requiring travellers arriving in England to have a negative coronavirus test have been delayed "to give international arrivals time to prepare". The requirement for passengers arriving in England by boat, train or plane – including UK nationals – to test negative for Covid up to 72 hours before leaving the country of departure was due to come into force at 4am on Friday. But it has been pushed back until the same time on Monday, amid concern that guidance on which tests would be accepted had not been published early enough. UPDATE: To give international arrivals time to prepare ⏱️ passengers will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before departure to England from MONDAY 18 JANUARY at 4am — Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP (@grantshapps) January 13, 2021 Yvette Cooper, chairwoman of the Commons Home Affairs Committee, described the delay in introducing the new rules as "truly shocking". She wrote on Twitter on Thursday night: "Questioned PM repeatedly today on why border testing/quarantine is weaker than other countries. "Repeatedly he said Government is bringing in new testing (months later than elsewhere but due Friday). "But now it's not. More delays. As they haven't published guidance in time." For me this Government aren't serious enough about Covid . Above is a prime example . Yet they expect us to be serious about it .
With the number of cases in the UK already, what difference will a few more make. Our vaccination program is currently the highest in Europe, this is where the biggest differences will be made. Since the most vulnerable people are being vaccinated, the number of people needing ICU treatment will fall. I don't have exact figures, but the current death rate seems to be near normal for the time of year. People see figures without ever stopping to think of 2 important points. 1.500 people die every day in the UK, roughly the same as our birth-rate. 95% of ALL deaths involve A CURRENT VIRUS during the last 72 hours. Which virus this is only affects the moment of death by a few hours.
The US always has to have an evil enemy, civil war, or great depression, or whatever, and it puts the whole world on hold. You'll get used to it.
Well, if you heard anything from about his impeachments, he says,"it's a witch hunt." Well hell yes, and he's the witch.
Fuck the witch hunts, they will track down half the Tea Party with drones, round them up like fucking cattle, and put them in camps that they themselves insisted we build. Marijuana will finally be legalized, to help keep the idiots pacified, but the 25% of the population in prison for pot violations, will be freed to make room for these idiots, who also insisted we build the prisons. This is a third of the US population, that does not take no for answer, ever, because they are fucking brainless chickens! Go ahead, try to reason with a chicken or a three year old.
Too Fricken Slow Again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Covid-19: Brazil variant already in UK, scientist says One of two coronavirus variants thought to have emerged in Brazil has already been detected in the UK, says a leading scientist advising the government. The variant is distinct from those which emerged in Kent, in the UK, and in South Africa, but shares some key mutations. These changes to the virus are thought to make it better at attaching to human cells, and therefore more infectious. Travellers from South America were banned from entering the UK on Friday. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the BBC this morning he was "not aware" of any cases of the Brazilian coronavirus variant in the UK. Asked if the Brazilian strain was currently in the country, he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "Not as far as we are aware, I think, at this stage." But Prof Wendy Barclay, who is heading a newly-launched project to study the effects of emerging coronavirus mutations called the G2P-UK National Virology Consortium, said one Brazilian variant of coronavirus had been detected in the UK. "There are two different types of Brazilian variants and one of them has been detected and one of them has not," she said. How worrying are the new coronavirus variants? Prof Barclay also sits on Nervtag, a committee which advises government on new and emerging respiratory virus threats. The variant was "probably introduced some time ago", she added, and it "will be being traced very carefully". The Kent variant remains dominant in the UK and is believed to be 30-50% more infectious than the previous form of the virus. Viruses acquire random changes to their genes constantly as they replicate. Many are neutral or even hurt the virus's ability to spread, but those that give it an advantage will become more common. We are beginning to detect mutations now because enough time has passed for those random changes to take hold. Even though there is no evidence any of these mutations make the virus more deadly, a virus that infects more people is likely to have a higher death toll. Because the virus is better at sticking on and breaking into human cells, in theory someone exposed to the same dose is more likely to become ill. The use of masks and personal protective equipment, social distancing and hand washing remain the best defences against the virus's spread. Mr Shapps described the travel ban as a "precautionary" measure to ensure the vaccination programme rolling out across the UK was not disrupted by new variants of the virus. .................................................................................................................................................................. Thats why we needed the Airports closing down promptly
This whole covid situation is such a mess, ignoring the daily death rate in the country. In Europe, 1 in 48 covid sufferers have died, but the death rate is only up by about 1% In the US, 1 in 60 people have died, with no recordable increase in the death rate. These daily death rate figures should help to reassure you that with or without Trump, your hospitals are coping and doing an excellent job. United States - Historical Death Rate Data Year Death Rate Growth Rate 2021 8.977 1.090% 2020 8.880 1.120% 2019 8.782 1.120% 2018 8.685 1.220% 2017 8.580 1.240% 2016 8.475 1.270% 2015 8.369 1.270% 2014 8.264 1.290% 2013 8.159 0.090% 2012 8.152 0.090% 2011 8.145 0.090% 2010 8.138 0.090% Perhaps none of us can affect mother nature at all...... But hospitals, not presidents save lives PS,,,, 2014 saw the start of viruses causing an increase in the mortality rate. Tracking up the figures shows how the hospitals have developed ventilation methods and antibiotic cocktails.
Their is no excuse. Covid is a nasty virus and being a first mutation it spreads very rapidly due to our lack of immunity. Despite all the confusion, our isolation has kept the spread to levels manageable by the NHS. Like ALL nasty viruses, it has increased the death rate among seriously frail and ill members of our community. Th average 1 to 2% increase in mortality is inline with previous flue epidemics, but this time we are seeing the figures before they average out.
Well thats the problem . We havnt performed well as an island nation . We have left the airports opened for it to come in. And now we have the Brazilian variant confirmed by the BBC ( see my previous post) This Government is too lax and too slow and then blames the population for thier failings .
This is 400, 000 people who didn't need, want, or have to die. Go ahead, ask them. Oh yea, you can't. Well you possibly can get Trumpvirus, die, then ask them I'm sure you don't want to die either, do you?
You need to look at the total mortality figures to see the true picture. The vast majority of the deaths were among people already in the last few days of their life. 95% of ALL people who die contract a virus during their last 72 hours. This applies to all of hundreds of viruses currently active, not just covid. I also wonder if covid was wrongly blamed for some of these deaths. When a patient is on a ventilator in ICU, the priority is saving them, rather than identifying the virus, The treatment is largely the same, regardless of the virus strain.
Well, first, you are exactly right. Not only are you right but you didn't know it , you are right about all deaths, every person who has died, through history of mankind are within days of dying. Yes, old age, cancer, automobile accidents, everyone who has died are within days of dying. As far as all the other crap you're trying to spin about Trumpvirus, I'm not buying the load of what you are spreading.
I am not supporting Trump, just questioning what difference anyone can make when it comes to mother nature. Regarding Trump, His responsibilities as a so called word leader should have been to educate, reassure and support people during this difficult time. Instead, he behaved like an inconsiderate spoilt child and a complete idiot. The rebellion against his reaction may well have resulted in a few UNNESSARY deaths and that alone is unforgivable.
