They actually broke his bones so that he would not be able to breeth. After he died they pierced his side, and the blood was seperated from the water, which means that he was dead.

That's just one example, there's this one verse that says the earth's round, the stars are uncountable, the earth goes around the sun, there's molacules and stuff, and other things. These thing were in the Bible long before any scientists believed them, so at that time only God knew these things, therefore he had to write the Bible.

umm.. i know this is crazy.. but a LOT of people knew the earth was round way before Columbus.

and i'd like to know which verse this is exactly so i can read it. you cant make arguments and not actually give the information..

as i was taught, it wasnt him who wrote the bible.. it was the prophets.. like Moses wrote the first five books..

I think people should spend less time trying to prove their religions to other people. I think everyone should just worry about religion on a personal level.
    "I believe in God."
    "I don't."
    "Well, that's cool."
End of conversation. The only thing I don't like about Christianity, then, in that sense is because there are "teachings" or whatever that tell Christians to go out and get more Christians. I think Christianity'd be just fine if everyone worried about themselves and about their own God. The Bible is just too demanding in my opinion.

The people that seen Jesus seen him at the same time.
Moses wrote the pentitoock, but he was like a secratarry, you know, God actually told him what to say.
I might do that, and you all better apreatiate it because the book is clear in the other room.

theres been groups of people who've seen Bigfoot or the Lochness Monster at the same time. Just a thought.
Joseph Smith worked as, like you know, a secretary for god too. Does that mean the Mormons must be right?
You so didn't even get up and get the book. You googled instead. If we get to google to find the answers to the world, here: http://www.bobsagetisgod.com/
    Don't believe everything you read.

On that website you found, I read the Atheist Test. that was funny shit. But wouldn't saying that other religions (including atheists) are not right, be an absolute statement?

i really hope you know I just like arguing religion. I don't give a shit if you believe in the Bible. I dont. I believe in my own spiritual findings, not the ones handed to me. But to each their own. (this isn't meaning you "won" either.. I'm just saying that I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm just hoping to open it a little. You should question the Bible more, not cause its necessarily wrong, but cause you (as in the collective you) should discover oneself).

I do have a question though: Seeing how the Bible is about the prophets and such, shouldnt it be a never-ending book? I mean, why aren't there prophets now? I never understood.

My thread :( my beautiful thread :(

Ok, first off, I hope everyone can see that Beyond-the-Clouds is most probobly a farce. Second, this thread WAS intended to be a thread about the apparent difference in cultures between Canada and the USA. Thirdly, as sad as I am to see my thread become a battle ground, it was quite humourous to read.

Now I shall say this (and I know that it probobly isn't correct logic] but i was thinking a few days ago that what would be the benifit of making up these stories about Jesus who came and told everone to love each other and be nice to everyone? The gospels contain almost no (if not none) authoritiatveness in them, what would be the gain of someone to write them. And again I will say, this hardly gives creedence to their viability or not, but I dunno, I just thought it was interesting.

In thinking to Mary's question <joke>God did seem to take more of a "hands off" approach than he did in the old days. I mean: burnging bushes, world floods, virgin births etc. </joke> But in seriousness, why can't the Torah be atempted rational on a part of the writers, and Jesus' ministry come to restore God's love to his people [meaning all humans, not only the Jews]? Can you still belive in the truth of the gospels withought beliving in the literal Old Testament?

    sorry burby... but
can you really believe that any of the NT is true if none of the OT isnt?

obviously you probably can, but the gospels make countless references to OT chapters, i think that to believe in them you also have to believe that the OT is completely true as well.

    so confusing

You can argue the toss about religion until the cows come home, at the end of the day it all boils down to faith

I'm Christian btw....and I don't particularly like an awful lot of other christians....

My aunt once told me about a book she read about how all the religions teach the same basic morals (the major religions i should say.. not like cults and stuff). Its the stories that are used to teach the morals that are different. So I dont see why everyone has to be "right" or "wrong"..
I'll try to find out what book it is. You might like it, Burby.

oh and I'm sorry for arguing in your thread. I didn't mean to participate in ruining your thread.

Well lots of the stuff I mean is like when a couple young boys taunted a prophet, the prophet called on God and God sent out two "she-bears" and mauled the two kids. See, I don't know if that really happened or not, but if it did, I would expect it to be atributed to God, although God took no part in it. Maybe the reason I can belive this is cause I don't think God plays a hands on role on earth, He sort of let us go at it...

I havta go, so i will continue later

America is based on the idea of no state religion.

Canada was founded by a country with a state religion.

They have a new state religion, "hating the Americans"

i thought of this too, you just now reminded me about it..

great point... if God really is a God of Love (which he most certainly is if he does exist.. the earth is still here, is it not?) than just why would he do all those bad things? God didnt write the bible, man did.
