They must have somewhat restrictive policies since they have a huge south asian labor pool to draw on. When I was there I saw the population very homogenous.
Rugor--Do you live on your own or with your parents? I live on my own but my parents have been supporting me through nursing school and I'm not proud of it. I want to work to be completely independent and not have to be a burden on anyone else in case the unexpected were to happen. Saving is great, and I believe in it, and I'm not really a materialistic person either, but you never know what life is going to throw your way. I also have a condition that requires me to have health insurance, and my fiance and I want a large family one day. We also want to live in a nice, low-crime area (his apartments are filled with violent drug dealers, his place has been broken into before and it's just not worth it). I'll admit that I'm lucky to have nursing, since I love it and it's very much a career worth getting up for. I get to use my brain and not sit behind a desk all day. It's not like I'm a junior executive at some meaningless company. I have worked in an office job and it was depressing as hell, so I can sympathize there. But personally, I don't do well with lots of free time; i just end up online for hours and then I feel like I've wasted yet another day of my life. I'd rather be at a job where I can learn something and earn some more money to have more freedom of choice. That's the real benefit of money--you have more choices in life, and if you choose to do good in this world, you can do so more effectively.
