Why Why Why!!!??

Why do we celebrate Columbus Day? I think it's insulting to credit a man for finding something that wasn't lost in the first place. Here is a man that sailed a ship drunk, thought the world was flat, and landed in the West Indies. (Not the US) He is credited for discovering a land that was populated py people. (Just because the people didn't look like him that doesn't mean that they didn't count.) It sounds to me as though it's just an excuse to take the day off and I bet people couldn't name one thing that was fair about that holday. (How would you like it if we had Michael Jorden day (Forgive me if I mispelled his name please.) and credited him for inventing basketball or saying that Steven segal invented marshal arts. (LOL, I'll celebrate those holidays with a straight face.) How about if I said Margaret Chao is the standard of beauty that we should emulate? Here is my personal favorite, Michael Jackson day because he is the "Godfather of Soul." Let me allow you time to ponder the post.

I like my day off! Don't try to take it away from me! I already put up with Martin Luther King Day, not to mention the entire month of February...."Black History Month." Don't be down on alcoholic white guys! Noah was an alcoholic! And Jim Morrison! And my Uncle Junior!


If I can pretend to know the meaning behind MLK Day, you can bite the bullet and pretend everything is awesome on Columbus Day. It even has a cute little poem to ease the pain!!

but columbus wasnt the first to discover america. it was vikings. but i like my day off. its very special when it also happens to be my birthday!
