Why The Puritans Ate Eel Pie.

    The English Puritans and the pilgrims who came to the US in 1620, could not enjoy life. Not at all. All their happiness lie in the next world, they thought. They couldn't even enjoy plays. That is why they closed all the playhouses down in London. So no one else could enjoy them either.

    And, that is why they served eel pie on the first Thanksgiving. Because, they thought it tasted so terrible. But they needed food still to sustain them, they thought. I've never tried eel pie. But I have had eel sushi. And I think that tastes good. Especially with eel sauce.
