meh. lennon was ultimately short sighted, bless his soul, because of lack of experience. the force seperating men is men, and they like to fly a flag of religion to make their greed seem more seemly and noble. though really, is it "greed" when those poorer nations are just trying to live well and keep their children in good health and hearty food?
No, it's religion. Like I said, it falls into either Religion or Greed. Just as Lennon said it did. It makes sense.
Theres no peace in the world because peace is something you get when you die. Thats the true logic to why people fight in wars, hoping to acheive peace. Everyone should learn to enjoy chaos and mayhem, and death will feel that much better.
peace? never. people make $ off the war. War is good for economies, and with out it economy would fall apart. Think about it with out war lots of ppl would be unemployed. that would suck. also there is always gunna be some one who disagrees with someone else, mostly on religion, also who doesnt want to control the whole world. peace? never!
what do you think came first, a hungry belly or a religion to use as an excuse to take what someone else has?
besides the latest terrorist war, most of the modern wars have not been about religion. ww1, ww2, vietnam,
animals have been savaging each other over territory, sex and food since they've walked the earth. making up an elaborate religion to justify it is a very new invention, all time considered.
It's not necessarily religion. It's just some people that have a problem with some other people, so they want to kill them. Religion is one way to find out who you're supposed to have a problem with. The crusades, Jihads, ethnic cleansings, wars.. Just one group of people killing another. Then, in the different groups, there are a few people on top who are either driven by greed, sincere conviction, or both. It's quite a shame what so many people will let their fellow humans go through for their own personal goals.
i think it's nature's way of trying to control the population, we can't help it. and then we got all uppity with the bombs.
I have no clue. I suspect the corporations that build the war equipment look for opportunities to push governments into starting wars. It is good for business.
You're not seeing the picture KC. Why are there starving people? Because of Greed. If everyone could share then there would be no starving people. Greed and Religion is all it falls back on.
no, YOU'RE not seeing the big picure. i don't disagree with greed, i just don't believe for a second that religion causes war. i think religion is an excuse for a natural animal behavior. like i said, those hungry bellies and need to fight over a ptch of land were around LONG before religion was invented.
People starve because of inadequate access to food. And you might say, oh but we have a lot of food here, why not just bring it there, greedy. But that's simply not the case. There is no way to ship large amounts of food to places where starvation is rampant. In fact, even though the overbearing cost of it, it's been tried many times. The largest cause of starvation is political instability, mostly wars, genocides, what have you. When we give food to governments, it's often just given to government soldiers and the food aid is not distributed to the people. Look at the early days of Darfur for one of dozens of examples I could give. Another reason for starvation is improper access to the infrastructure of food. Roads, and refrigeration and trade networks. This means that while one town may have plentiful food, another town 20 miles away could be facing famine. More over, giving away food does a lot more harm then good except in emergency situations. It's called food dumping, it's what Europe and North America already do, and it's devestating to local agrarian economies.
i totally believe almost every war in history can be linked to or caused by religion. Government is mostly based on religion. A lot of times difference in government or religion causes wars. Look at Israel, the Jews and the Arabs. Why do the Hindus hate the Muslims. RELIGION. i realize that maybe there sacred book doesn't say go kill ppl but apparently thats what they believe, they believe the extremists. either way religion is the cause for many wars.
Beautiful response if I may say so myself. If we are ingenious enough to walk on the moon lode, I'm sure we can handle the task of safely transporting food over to the starving millions. @ KC Ok I see you're point now. And I don't disagree, but I don't think you're seeing actually how much damage religion HAS indeed done, and is DOING. As deadhead stated, many wars, in fact an overwhelming majority have been caused by religions. How someone sees this to be G-dly is beyond me. Peace and Love, John. Although
Well what I was talking about transporting food, is, that's the wrong way to provide for people. What happens to the local market when you flood it with food? The prices of food are massively deflated. That means, that a farmer who has tons of food, simply can't sell it, because their food cost so much more to produce then this foreign food on the market. That means tens of millions of people are remaining poor, because their food is rotting in the fields, because foreign food is there much cheaper. http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Poverty/FoodDumping.asp And I'm an evangelical atheist. I find it hard to stick up for theism much. But global politics are pretty complex.
A decent argument. However, when I think food aid, I'm not speaking of Selling food cheaper than local farmers, but rather give it out for free. And although this may cut the farmer short, I'm willing to exchange hundreds, if not thousands, maybe even MILLIONS of people having full bellies, and have a few poor farmers than vice versa. Sure enough, these farmers will lose their business, but it'll be for a greater cause. And we won't have to worry about the farmer's starvation, they farm. Maybe even a way to have a win-win situation is to provide food aid in an area where there are no local farmers, but rather, just a area of pure famine and destruction. Peace and Love, John.
