You don't. When I said he wrote some catchy pop tunes, that was not a cut.
It was actually a fairly high compliment, coming from me.

It's not a conspiracy, it's fact. The record company put Sid with those guys. They didn't even like his sorry ass. Read the history

Ok, if it is just comedy :p

If this was a thread about punk you probably had it coming big time :D Almost everyone into punk seperates emo and screamo from the original stuff (I agree it may be inspired and thus shares genre elements but still it's not punk). This is also partly why I say we should post examples we actually love ourselves. Not stuff that is out there by bands you can hear that they can play. As it is not really a big deal that they can. It is a big deal when they make stuff we love though.

Neon, emo could be said to be the baby of punk..same emotion, just delvered in a gothy, modern way.

Emo is punk in the same sense heavy metal is rock.

edit: Actually, I would say more in the same sense nu metal or grindcore is blues rock :p Most rock fans see and accept the big connection between (hard) rock and heavy metal.

Hmmm, no, not really Asmo. Metal is a hybrid of rock and punk more like.

At least some metal is, like speed , thrash , death and black. Mutant babies.

melodic metal would be like rock baby.or younger, meaner brother..

Sorry I thought you said you didn't care for the style (of emo and screamo) personally. But I don't care either way (as it's all good I mean) :) I dislike most emo and screamo more than punk though.

But even emo, has grown up in the sense that a lot of those kids are really good players, so the music has changed yet again.its far more progressive than it used to be.

As long as the characteristics of their music and thus their sound sucks beartits (to me) I don't care that they are good players. Good for them though :p Although I readily admit they are better skilled than the first punk bands how big of an achievement is that really ;)

When it comes to melodic metal the line beteeen hard rock and metal is extremely thin.

I know what you mean and I agree the line can be thin. Stoner rock is actually a good example of that. The term melodic metal on itself means not much to me as even black metal (my fav extreme metal genre) can be melodic metal.

  19. Yeah I know that. The Sex Pistols are a complete disaster, any way you look at it, and with them that's a good thing. I guess the record labels made some money, but millions of kids were inspired to never buy a record from a record label, so...

I guess I just think old, classic punk songs are the best. I don't find it a modern way of thinking to say that there is a "modern way". Like I said before, what I think would be cool is a total free for all. There's no one way to express yourself. Back to Nirvana, I guess...the song Breed pretty much covers how I feel.

I don't think you can measure progression in such black and white terms. Next you'll probably tell me that our modern composers are better than Amadeus and Beethoven. I can't just automatically swallow that. I would rather no comparison be made and just say that everyone and everything rocks than admit the Sex Pistols weren't as interesting as Sum41.
